baggage question

Hi,
I need advice on my upcoming trip from BOM-LAX. I travel from BOM-DXB on Jet airways and have a 18 hour halt in which I plan to enter Dubai. Then I fly from DXB-LAX on BA. My question is if I could check my luggage all the way to LAX from BOM. Will Jet Airways allow me to do thru check-in all the way to LAX. Also these are 2 separate tickets and I travel in Y from BOM-DXB and in F from DXB-LAX.
Thanks.

There is a high probability of Jet not allowing you through check-in. Through check-in is allowed only if some conditions are satisfied, two of which are as follows:

- The stopover is less than 12 hrs.
- Itinerary is booked on a Jet Airways ticket and the ticket number commences with 589 / 705.

Since your layover time is 18 hrs, it seems impossible that you will have through check in from BOM.

Jet has an interline agreement with BA, so if you were on the same ticket all the way then they would definitely have been able to check your luggage through to LAX.
As it is, you can request the 9W check-in person to do so regardless with a separate ticket and maybe involve his supervisor if he denies; but they are not obliged to do so.

It is highly unlikely that they will check u through as according to jet website, even if we set aside the same ticket issue, through check in is available only if layover time is less than 12 hours.

Thanks a lot to all of you. As suggested I will try my luck with Jet at check-in.
