Jet Airways and checking luggage through

I had two flights, first 9W from CCU to DEL, and then KL from DEL to AMS, on different PNRs. In the past, I have often checked luggage through to the final destination: you ask the first airline to link the PNRs, so that the check-in agent can see the entire itinerary, and then you can check the luggage through.

In CCU, this did not work. The 9W supervisor told me that this can only be done if the itinerary is on one ticket, so I needed to collect my luggage in Delhi and recheck.

I haven't ever heard about "Linking of PNRs", that too for different airlines. Don't think Jet agent can access itinerary booked on a KLM ticket. To best of my knowledge, what the 9W agent informed you in CCU is correct.

I've cross referenced completely different tickets on different airlines in the past (adding an info segment, so that the check-in agent sees what flight's next)..

Although, that is not really required to check bags through (assuming that an interline agreement is in place and you have an agent competent enough - this is where the cross referencing comes in handy).

In any case, i recall reading on this forum that 9W had changed its policy and would only check through / honor international baggage allowance if everything was on the same ticket.

They used to be very good about tagging your luggage on to certain carriers they had agreements with - KL/NW/BA/CX where some examples. Recently they refuse to do so and this is one of the many cutbacks at 9W

I have used this through-checkin facility many times (even when there are two separate tickets). However my last experience was in late 2011 and things might have changed since then.

http://www.jetairways.com/EN/US/Abou...nPartners.aspx

Reading above link, it is bit confusing.

At the top, it says that through check-in is available only if it is a single ticket (in which case international baggage allowance also applies)

However scrolling down there seem to be a lot of information about through check-in with partner airline.

However, datapoint here on FT is more reliable than their website.

Jet - Intl allowance allowed on connecting domestic Jet flight

Hi,

Have done this earlier , but not in the last 2 years so wanted to confirm..

If we fly Jet on intl sector to DEL / BOM and then connect within few hours in Jet itself to another domestic leg, the international baggage allowance will be allowed right ? All under same PNR and the flights are bookable in jet site too.
During checkin for the international leg, they should be able to tag my bags to final destination right?

I am exploring option of taking Jet even though have better options primarily because they give 10kgs extra per person and also have status with them giving me considerable additional baggage allowance.

Cheers
A

As long as booked on same PNR they will book your luggage through to final destination. As long as you are in transit, it does not matter if few hours or even 20 hrs.

Since your flight is international to domestic and then a connect you will get the international baggage allowance.

I was too in the same situation, and booked jet because of better baggage allowance due to status.
