Presumably those inquiring about 9W availability here do not have 9W miles (or they could have checked themselves) and plan to use partner miles.
Therefore it should be pointed out that just because 9W makes certain seats available for its own awards does not mean those will be necessarily available to partners as well.
Of course, it is a good sign and doesn't hurt to ask.

Checked availability on 9W myself for DEL-HKG sector. 2 seats available in business class.
Rang up AAdvantage and sure the agent could see 2 seats. I made her put one of them on hold for me. After ending the call, checked my AA account to see if the award was properly held. Then logged in to my JP account and sure enough, the sector now had only 1 seat available.
At least AAdvantage has access to the same inventory that 9W makes available to own members. YMMV for other programs.

So i have roughly 150k miles sitting in my SBI-AI CC account. And i have another 60k points in my Citi PM account (translating to ~30k miles). I have a biz trip coming up to US west coast (LAX) in Jan end which i am clubbing with a holiday in which my wife would join me later. My company pays only for Economy class fare.
So i was thinking of two options -
1. Buy a revenue Economy class fare for my wife and use miles to upgrade the return leg for both of us to Biz
2. Use the miles to buy my wife's economy class ticket
Complicating matters is the fact that only *A flying to LAX from India i could find are SQ/Lufthansa/TK. What should be my modus operandi for this ?

So there seems to be economy class open on LH from BLR-LAX if i search on United website. Is it fair to assume AI would be seeing same availibility and i can book through them ?
