Exclamation Webcheck in In India

is it still a requirement to get the web-checked in printouts stamped at the counter of the airline?

I have a 1 hr connection in BLR, with Go-Air and jet Airways.

Since Check-in closes 45 mins, I was wondering if I can get the BP printer thru web checkin and walk thru security directly ?

Also will jet airways stamp it in stations other than the departure city?

It differs by airport, and sometimes by day as well. You can usually go straight through in Bangalore.

Yes. Last time in IXC and BOM, I was let go without the stamp.

But why we still need to show up 45 mins early and check-in with the counter (or That's what I've been told by Jet Call center )

That's probably if you need to check bags.

Nope, even if I have only cabin bags, I still need to go and present myself to the staff - or atleast this is what my understanding.

Keyser n others who fly much more than I do, can you share your experience?

i don't use web check-in too often but in the few times i have used it, the stamp is a requirement without which you will be turned back at security check....i have seen this happen to a bunch of people....they have been asked to go back & get their paper stamped by the airline....

I think that's so that they don't end up with gate no shows and end up searching for them. At air India on almost every flight we have atleast one gate no show who had web checked in with no bags. It's jets way of makin sure every seat fills.

Humm... This negates the whole idea of web check-in, we still need to stand in line and get it verified.

Some times, they expedite it for the web check in PAX (KF had separate counters), but I do not see that with other airlines.

no, this is sarkaari mandate again. CISF wants to make sure the people who travel are the people who were booked. they removed the need in mumbai but brought it back on again...

I check in online to beat the 45 min deadline, then pick up the boarding card at the airport counter.

It may be the rule in theory, but they don't always enforce it. And it's even more of a farce when you don't have any bags to check.

Just the other week, I flew BOM-AMD and there was no stamp on the home-printed BP. There was no ID check either, except by the CISF pandu manning the terminal entrance. And that doesn't count.

Flying Cathay last year, we had no luggage and used the new common kiosks. No one asked to see a thing, until we were seated on board and someone came running to validate the passport / ID etc.

Flew BOM to DEL this morning on AI. I'd printed my own boarding pass. I asked the ladies at the self check-in machines whether I'd need a stamp - they said no. No problems at all getting on the flight without a check-in stamp.

...and DEL to BOM this morning on 6E - checked in online, only hand baggage. I asked the Indigo lady whether I'd need a stamp and she said no, and that was fine.

The only quirk was that the security goon at DEL demanded to see "ID proof" in addition to my boarding pass, which had never happened before. Not a problem in itself, except that my passport was in my coat pocket, and the coat was going through the x-ray machine. Had to go and fetch it while he held back the security queue, waiting for me...
