9W partner award

I am trying to use my 9W mile for CX award ticket. I use the mileage calculator tools on jetairway website and find that YYZ--PEK cost 50K for economy one-way.

But since YYZ to PEK with CX needs to via HKG. Will 9W consider the route two sector or one sector? If they consider it one sector, it only costs 50K. If it considers it two sector, it will cost 50K+20K one-way.

all 9W awards are based on sectors flown so my guess it would be 50+20

I submitted the partner award ticket on-line. Anyone have experience how long it takes for them to reply?

Is it safer for me to call them to issue the ticket directly? I saw there are award seat now, but who knows what will happen in 4-5 days?

Just an update: I got the reply email to confirm the ticket in the evening. So it bascially took me less than 1 business day. Great!

...and that shows how ridiculously overpriced 9W redemptions are. In comparison, BA (who are also stingy and mean) charge 75K for a first class CX ticket and it can be extended to another asian city in the same region with a stopover in HKG.

AA charge even less: 62.5K in F.

Maybe US airline is too generous. Asia miles charge 85K for this route business. I did not ask for YYZ-HKG(stop-over)--PEK. I think HKG--PEK should need additional mile. I will double check.

Couldn't agree more. Does AA charge YQ for CX redemptions?

i've found 9w to be more generous than ba in allowing points to be earned....hence the higher redemption....

Problem begins when you try and burn those miles. BA gives up to fives 7 seats in F and 8 in Biz I think. Jet 1 in F if you are lucky and 2 in Biz.

BA isn't that bad though. 2.5 returns in Economy give you enough miles for an upgrade to UK. Jet in 2.5 UK flights will only give you enough miles for a return upgrade to Bombay.
