Hello community,
I arrived to Heathrow on the 23rd December 2024 and my luggage with the Christmas presents wasn’t delivered until Christmas Day at about 5 pm when I wasn’t at home and left with a neighbour.
I had already plans to travel to my in-laws on Christmas Day so I had no chance to give any presents and my kids and family were very disappointed.
This happened with Iberia.
Will Iberia compensate for the inconvenience at all? Thanks all!

Welcome to FlyerTalk, Kathepa . Sorry to hear about your baggage issue. As it was an Iberia flight, we'll move your thread over to the Iberia forum for further discussion. Thanks. /JY1024, TravelBuzz moderator

No. It's part of flying that luggage may be delayed and you would have been entitled to buy any essentials required until it was delivered, even though Iberia might baulk at paying these too.

If presents were that important that their absence "ruined" the day then perhaps you should have built a little more padding into the delivery, or hand carried them if practical.

Sorry this happened and that it’ll be nearly impossible to get compensation. In the meantime gifts still were delivered albeit late. If the gift recipients are too upset about an airline delay then this is new good information for OP to have.

Your compensation is the joy the luggage was located and delivered.

You could have bought some items to hold you over (if UK wasn't your home) but too late even if entitled.

You should submit receipts for essentials and clothing that you needed for the days you were delayed (no receipts for gifts). IB should compensate up to a few hundred Euros depending on how long your luggage was delayed.

Of course, if OP is from/lives in the UK, it would probably be harder to argue anything was "essential" as they'd probably have stuff at home.
