Wink I won

In that last promo,I won a free night anywhere at any property. Now my parents want to join us.Rather than them paying big bucks to stay in the same place has anyone who won had an upgrade experience?I am Plat.Or could I pay to get a suite do you think?Pop is disabled and would prefer to have him in sight.Hotel in question is FLL hyatt pier 66.Any experinces with other winners in this past promo? It was the 365's of rooms as the main prize.

i think they attach a value to the free night like 300usd.

but they don't enforce it. you have to call them to redeem the night. maybe you can just call them.

Congratz on your victory! Now that you feel special, a whole bunch of us won. The contest, however, just gives you a free night. As a plat, there is an ever so tiny chance you would get an upgrade, paid or award. That depends on availability, and how much you flirt with the Front Desk Manager, also see the $20 trick thread. Your chances increase ever so slightly if it is a 25th Wedding Anniversary, 50th Birthday, etc. Read Dale Carnegie's book, How to Win Friends and Influence People and implement those strategies as well. It may also help if you can bring a few conventions to their property.

Use all these tips mentioned above, and I think you just might have a 10% chance of securing a suite upgrade (Flyertalk Coaches, did I miss anything?).

Had you signed up for the Diamond Challenge before 8/31, there's a far better chance you would have been upgraded, even on an award stay.

Best of luck!

I would strongly discourage that outside LAS.

If getting a suite is your goal then your best bet is to contact the property and check what the upsell would cost.

Regardless I can't quite picture having enough comfortable sleeping space for 4 adults even in a suite.

Unless you get a proper two bedroom suite it wouldn't be comfortable at all. Begging for an upgrade as a Platinum member won't take you anywhere.

As others have suggested the proper procedure would be to contact the hotel and ask how much it would cost to upgrade to a TWO BEDROOM suite.

Even as a Diamond, I wouldn't count on getting an upgrade to a suite (that's very rare) and even more rare for Platinums. That said, if you want to try for a suite, the above advice is sound (contact the property and ask what an upsell to a suite would cost you). Alternatively, sign up for the upcoming "Next Big Thing" promotion (see http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/hyatt...big-thing.html ) which you can sign up for on 9/25 - and starts on 10/1. Just do 2 stays and you should be able to get the 2nd room for free - I'm sure the hotel will accomodate you with 2 adjacent rooms that may connect anyways.

I agree with the previous posters that you would probably be more comfortable in 2 regular rooms than a suite. Consider booking a senior citizen rate and add the DEL5K offer to get $150 in food and beverage credit (as well as 5,000 bonus points for a free night at a Cat 1). While you're at it, make sure to request your G2 bonus for another 2,000 GPP. I don't know when you're going, but the rates this fall are less than $150, so you would actually come out ahead by having a paid room along with your BW room. With a paid room as part of your reservation, you might also stand a better chance of getting some sort of room upgrade.

I also won a free night. Interestingly at the Park Hyatt Sydney, literally on Sydney Harbour with direct views of Sydney Harbour and Opera House, a free night is a 2nd level category room, i.e. an Opera View King. When I enquired why it wasn't a base room, GP said they generally don't sell these at the hotel. I enquired about a suite and was told that I could simply pay the difference. Hope that helps.
