I stayed at Grand Cypress several times and never aware of the 7 different levels, always be able to get a nice upgrade though. How could I find out which level I'm at?

I would imagine that a meeting planner who throws a lot of business Hyatt's way might have a high ranking.

After the IPO, shareholders should, too.

Is anyone else reminded of La Porte D'Argent?

(2003 Frazier episode dedicated to obsession with gaining progressively higher elite status at a day spa) IMO, should be required watching for all FT'ers.

Yes, youtube has everything.

I don't know about Cyprus specifically, but at Kauai and Maui, if you call your room from a HOUSE EMPLOYEE phone you will see [ROOM#/YOUR LAST NAME/V-LEVEL]. There are actually easy ways to do this that are permitted - for example at Kauai just ask the pool bartender if you can use his phone to call your room...

At the Hyatt Houston, the V number also appears on your check when you do a room charge. V3 for Diamond.

For the first time this weekend I had the opportunity to tell the difference between Diamond levels.

A friend of mine who is a new Diamond comp checked in just before me and his room was ready... mine wasn't because I was upgraded to a suite. We were on the same rate and reservations were booked the same day.

The only difference was my YTD stays (in the 30's to his single digits) and the fact that I'd stayed at the property on a few single night stays over the year. I also have a room booked there this weekend.

I was once upgraded to the Lindbergh suite on my corp rate at the Hyatt MCO. That's a room.

So what VIP levels were you and your friend? Quite different? Or one level different?

When I used to work at the PH Sydney, the VIP sheet listed total Hyatt stays, and the number of nights at the property. I think some hotels value the latter far more.

mohamed: does the hotel distinguish between total award stays and total paid stays? I know that they would know if the current stay was award or paid, but say if you had spent 30 ffn at ph sydney, would it still show as 30 previous stays? :P
