Update in Hyatt BRG policy (April 2019): If your BRG claim is approved, you can choose either 5,000 World of Hyatt points or an additional 20% off the matched rate for your stay (defined as consecutive nights at the same location). Rates available on websites that require membership which is free of charge, or where membership is automatically created as part of the booking, are eligible for BRG claims.

Update in Hyatt BRG policy (July 2017): if your BRG claim is approved, Hyatt will match the comparable lower rate, but will no longer offer a further 20% discount on the matched lower rate. Instead, after your stay on the BRG approved rate, you will receive a US$50 credit (or equivalent amount in the currency of your country of residence) to use on a future stay (completed within 12 months) booked on a Standard Rate, Advance Purchase Rate or Member Rate on Hyatt.com.
Q. How do I receive the $50 credit?
A. About 3-4 days after your BRG stay, Hyatt will email you a unique rate code to apply for your new reservation. You can either click on the link in the mail to book the reservation or manually enter it into the booking at Hyatt.com.
Q. Can I use the code more than once?
A. No. The code is invalid when it has already been attached to a reservation.
Q. Can I use the code to lower a rate like AAA or Double Points?
A. No. The BRG code books into its own unique rate class and can't be used with any other promotional rates.
Q. What happens if I cancel my reservation with the BRG code applied?
A. The code will can be re-used for another reservation. For this reason, DO NOT DELETE THE EMAIL FROM HYATT UNTIL AFTER YOUR STAY.
Q. What happens if a lower base rate appears available after I book the BRG rate?
A. You can cancel the first reservation (assuming there's no penalty) and then rebook using the code for the lower rate.

If you are dissatisfied with the response to your BRG claim, and it was processed by the Hyatt Service Desk in Omaha (9805 Q Street), you can consider filing a consumer complaint (link to online form) with the Nebraska Attorney General's Office (Consumer Protection Division). Note that the online complaint form requires you to fill in a correspondence address in the US (though you can state a preference to receive correspondence by e-mail rather than by post). As reported in Post # 2691, if the AG's Office decides to investigate, it is possible that Hyatt will review your BRG claim again and, in addition, offer points for the inconvenience.
If your BRG claim was processed by the Hyatt Service Desk in Marion (1120 North Carbon Street Suite 70), you can consider filing a consumer complaint (link to online form) with the Illinois Attorney General's Office.

Just had BRG success with Andaz London for in a couple of weeks time - for a cheap rate I saw off hotels.com. Response was extremely swift (within 4 hours of submitting the form) and no further negotiating over the phone needed.

Was able to successfully submit a BRG for the Hyatt Ziva Cabo San Lucas for next month. Bookit.com's price was slightly lower but of course it was denied on the first claim because Bookit.com didn't include "tax". I replied with a screenshot of the terms for Bookit.com which state tax is included and was able to get the BRG approved.

SPG used to allow this. I should have tried this with Hyatt on my last reservation. I had to book non-refundable and of course Hyatt BRG said it's not visible to them. $120 vs $75 on priceline.

I’m looking at a SLH property with lower rates on OTA and SLH own site than on Hyatt. But on Hyatt, one has to be logged in to see SLH property rates. Does this mean Hyatt won’t BRG bc Hyatt rate is not bookable by public? Or does the “free membership” clause work both ways? Also annoyed Hyatt doesn’t show breakfast rate bc would like to book that.

Thanks. I was thinking corporate Hyatt umbrella, but that makes sense.
At this particular property, the free breakfast is offered to all guests regardless of booking gateway and is inadequate continental. I’m wanting the breakfast buffet. I’ll look into SLH/Hyatt benefits more closely, but I think they only include continental. Thanks!

Did you search hotels.com using GBP or USD when filling out the form for BRG? I'm looking to try to do the same with the same hotel.

I just learned that Amoma has shut down. It was always good for BRG's so I thought I'd let you guys know. It was so good for a while that Hyatt put them in their "no fly zone." Sad day for the BRG world for all brands.

I had a denial today that wasn't one I'd had before and seems bizarre to me: The room was sold out - on Hyatt. I obviously already had a confirmed reservation but apparently, according to the agent, there still needs to be a second identical room available on Hyatt to book when the BRG agent processes the claim. Nothing in the T&Cs about that though of course.

I successfully had Hyatt price match booking.com rate .. both were "public" rates... did not log on to booking.com. Same room type available on both for same days. Both were refundable, although the booking.com had cancellation up to 11:59 pm and Hyatt had 3 pm on the same day as booking.com. Took advantage and received the 20% discount from the lower rate in booking.com.. As a back up, I kept my original reservation (in case they refused the BRG), and booked a new type of room to see if they would match ...
