If I can have some thoughts and prayers, it has been a tough couple of weeks for Mr. BHH, as IHH can attest. IHH has flown Mrs. IHH out here more times than he can count and everytime she leaves, she comes right back to help us...

Almost 4 weeks ago, he started not being able to see out of his right eye. He went to our eye doctor on a Saturday and she immediately diagnosed and sent his to a specialist, who immediately called a surgeon, who immediately performed surgery. Amazing. He had a detached retina.

He still has basically no vision, but we are hoping in 3 months or so, he might get it back. He still is unable to fly and had to cancel his RTW trip (UK, DUS, HKG).

I will take any thoughts and prayers, because you know I love you guys!

So sorry to hear this, but things should get better. The father of a colleague suddenly lost his vision in both eyes, last month. It was also a case of detached retinae. A week after the operation, he began seeing (blurry, double...but something) and has been told that this should improve over the course of the next 3 months. Best wishes for speedy and complete recovery.

I hope for a speedy recovery. My mom is currently going through eye problems at least as severe and I can see the strain it puts on her, so I have some understanding of what he must be going through. Best wishes!

Very worrying news, BHH. Here's wishes for both Mr. BHH's vision recovery and for strength for you as you help him and cope with the miniHHs.

Thanks for all of the thoughts...it is just a long road. I guess he will have to miss being in DUS next week for World Cup... As long as it comes back!

I was so sorry to hear of this, my prayers and wishes for a full and speedy recovery.

We are definitely starting to "see the light at the end of the tunnel..." I will keep you guys posted! He definitely is starting to make out shapes very close to his face. He will not have sight for 3 months and then have cataracts surgery to make it clearer...

Shannon, I'm glad there is some encouragement......it sounds like a tough time for awhile.

Is he having vision problems with both eyes, or just the one with the detached retina?

He currently only has a detached retina in his right eye, however he already has holes in his left one. He will have them lasered after the right is corrected, hopefully!
