Points Flexiblity?

I'm curious if anyone has any advice. I wish to do a combo paid/points stay at a property. For 3 out of 4 nights, the property has a standard points redemption available, for the other night, it only has a suite redemption. I have no status (no upgrades). The room category I wish to book is several tiers above the standard room, but is only about $20 more per night. For a points redemption, my only options are standard or suite which is double (25/50).

Is there any chance they would work with me if I book the room type I wanted for 2 nights paid, and then used points for the other two to be able to stay in the same room, either by paying a supplement, using more points, etc, or just letting me have it for the standard redemption? If so, who should I talk to--the hotel directly, or reservations/World of Hyatt?

Thanks in advance.

Hotel. I'd book the cash nights followed by the points then ask the hotel if there's any way you can get the room upgrade for the last two nights
