This hotel is open now - maybe you're thinking of another property?

We actually had a reservation for this hotel over valentine's day weekend that we cancelled because their "replacement" for the Hyatt Prive breakfast & property credit was 5k Hyatt points total for three nights. The agent on the phone said that they offer room service, but it is through a third party vendor and they are unable (read: unwilling) to cover that cost with the credits. Also, they shut down valet parking and don't offer self parking so the globalist free parking benefit doesn't apply either. I guess all of these are to be expected midst COVID, but I don't have much interest in giving them my money in those circumstances.

I was, I had three threads open and posted in the wrong one. I'm glad I did, though, I was planning to tack a night on at the beginning or end to try this place out, so your experience helps me out. Thanks so much!

I've been staying at Lincoln Hotel for my chicago weekend trips because its the only one left with free parking (valet). Decent suite with great water view, right across from the park. There was brunch voucher during weekend at kensington before the in-door dining shutdown. It's also much cheaper than Thompson Chicago and has more amenities.

I’ll just add that at Thompsons, the breakfast benefit at least for prive doesn’t seem to be coded into the system. They’ve always just manually removed it upon checking out in person. So if you just leave, they may forget and you’ll end up having to get them to fix it after the fact.

Here today.

The room itself is nice, but as a globalist, no extra benefits today.

-No upgrades, I see the hotel is offering the skyline and penthouse suites for sale today but I’m guessing no one gets upgraded to those.

-No breakfast being offered

-The Lexus experience is closed but that’s probably still to be expected

I guess at the rates being offered here, I was hoping for a little more special of an experience.

The only value hotel in downtown chicago right now is the Lincoln. Free valet parking for globalist, decent breakfast option, river view suite plenty. Price is also half of thompson

I have a legit work trip(!) to Chicago next month, was considering the Thompson due to the low rates, but just not worth it IMO w/the lack of on-property benefits...Hyatt Centric it is.

Assuming/hoping you knew this going in to the stay? At least it's a great location on the Gold Coast. And better than the Hyatt Rosemont.

If your work takes you anywhere else in the Greater CHI area, especially down in the Loop, Rosemont isn't exactly close to anything besides ORD.

I stayed at the Lincoln last night actually (crossing off the brands).

It’s half the price of the Thompson, sure,
but it’s a bit dated and small, and the wifi was very inconsistent. It did however come with breakfast vouchers, no drink vouchers though even though that’s part of the destination fee.

I’m sure this is a great property in normal times, just at the rates they’re charging now ($200+), I’m a bit underwhelmed.

The surrounding area though is very lively.

Yup Lincoln is another good one to cross off for the JdV...as I have said, Chicago is a gold mine for the Explorer brands!

Lincoln is a nice cozy place but, window heaters are very loud.

One Mile at a Time had a fairly negative review of the property. Anyone here recently stay there is it really that bad? I have a 1-4 cat cert to use and am debating between this hotel and the other cat. 4 hotels in Chicago.

I haven’t stayed there myself but I’ve considered it recently and it’s not just OMAAT that had negative reviews. If you search around boardingarea (and I think this thread too) it seems to be an “average at best” situation. Which is a little unusual for Thompsons. The only other one that I think may fall into this category is the Gild Hall in NYC.
