The number of people staying 100+ nights per year at Hyatt who have trouble using a Cat 1-4 within 6 months has to be very, very small.

6 months on Cat 1-7 cert is tough. I have 1 expiring in December and I have no plans to be anywhere near a Cat 7 hotel before then. I don't have a problem with Cat 1-4 cert, but Cat 1-7 is a lot more difficult to use within 6 months, and get real value.

This is the problem here: People see Cat 1-7 awards as Cat 7 awards.

I'd take 5k TBH. Just rarely stay at cat 1-4 hotels.

I'm nowhere near a 100+ night person, but of those who are, I could see a fair number having 90%+ of those nights paid by employer, then only staying at Cat 5+ on a longer vacation or 2 with family. The 100+ night population is already kinda small though.

Per the twitter team, they Stopped exchanging points for expired certs this year...

ďIt has never been an actual policy. In the past, we extended courtesy points for expired awards, however we stopped doing this at the beginning of this year. We are no longer able to offer points for expired awards, and could not give extensions. I do apologize for any inconvenience. ^KRĒ

It's about value.

Would you look at Cat 1-7 award as Cat 1 award?

I emailed them, as Twitter team is not budging. I told them Iím currently a Titanium Elite under Marriott and will continue to move my stays over to Hyatt. Currently at 48 nights under Hyatt.

No, I look at it as a Cat 1-7. If I'm able to use it at a Cat 7, great, but I don't look at it as being shortchanged if I "only" get to use it at a Cat 5 or 6, or if I don't get to use it at a Cat 7 on New Year's Eve in a prime destination when rates are triple.

This thread is full of people who stay at Hyatt frequently but seem to hold on to their free nights waiting for a max redemption opportunity that often never arrives.

This keeps Hyatt happy and keeps other Hyatt members happy since there are fewer redemption.

or perhaps, our employers pay for our stays and we havenít had the opportunity to redeem our certs for leisure?

This would be great. Just gift your Cat 1-7 to me and you enjoy your GOH benefit you deserve.

Such people have even less to complain about, since it's a total freebie for them.

ďI apologize for the inconvenience. Chase free night cannot be extended or replaced. Any other free night award that you may earn after qualifying the give criteria may be converted into points, however, Chase free night awards cannot be converted into points.

It is with much regret I bring this news to you as much as we appreciate the loyalty from all of our guests. I apologize for the inconvenience. Kindly redeem your award before the expiration date.ď

At least Hyatt policy is very clear, not like Marriott policy. If they make one exception, people ask for more and more exceptions.
