I've only used Prive (through Brandon) once, and the treatment at the hotel was ridiculously good, better than any other stay as a Hyatt Diamond, Hilton Diamond, IC Ambassador, or AMEX FHR guest at any other hotel I've stayed at.

As nice as 3rd free night is, I'm all for saving money, that's not why I will continue to use Prive. I want Prive to deliver that top notch experience I got on my last stay, and I'm more than happy to pay the Member Rate without an additional discount to get it. Hotels are already discounted in this environment, the Member Rates aren't at 2019 levels at most hotels. I simply don't see how it's sustainable to offer a big discount and deliver that extra level of service that Prive is supposed to deliver. It's hard to imagine the customer who is overly worried about getting a discount plus getting extra levels of service is the customer Hyatt is trying to attract with Prive.

Fair enough, as I said, I do value a good agent (like yourself and some select others). For research though I wouldn't mind to be able to view the rates and associated rate rules on my own before reaching out for a booking.

In general, as a mere Discoverist, I do value Prive rates under certain circumstances as they give me a number of benefits that otherwise would cost me significantly more. YMMV.

The incremental or replacement benefit for Globalist would be a great idea and separate from the program - Even if it's as simple a drink tickets since you're already entitled to breakfast - or room service breakfast added more consistently as a choice.

Also anything that makes it more certain that you're getting "at least as good a deal" as booking through other channels would help. The Prive rate doesn't need to be the lowest, but you want to make sure it isn't "pay an extra $100 a night for the $100 credit" like certain similar programs. Since the whole point is to book through a travel advisor, being confident that you're getting a fair rate through that without checking all the other rates yourself makes it a more useful service.

The thing is, the Prive experience is so dependent on individual properties to deliver that type of experience you’re referring to. It certainly helps to have a good agent (and clearly Brandon invests a lot of time and effort on here and so I’d imagine also puts a lot of effort into customer service), but you can still have a very mixed experience.

I’d suggest managing your expectations and be prepared to come away from some Prive stays with a “that was Ok” or “that was pretty good” (rather than “that was top notch”), even with the best of agents.

Having those extra incentives (like 3rd night free) certainly helps me come away with a “that was a great experience and great value” vibe.

One other thing to add to the list - complimentary COVID testing (where it's being offered at the property). I think some of the Ziva/Zillaras are already doing this for stays over X nights?

This is one of the big talking points in next week's call, and it sounds like Hyatt is working on rolling this out to more properties. I'll keep you all updated.

And my point was if Brandon is talking to the Hyatt CEO he shouldn't be saying 'you need to focus on dollar value (e.g., free nights), because some properties don't deliver great experiences.', but rather 'The properties should focus on delivering a great guest experience, how can we assure hotels are doing that.'

I know that not every property will be as good, but the focus should be on trying to make those properties deliver better, not on offering a discount to make up for not delivering the top notch service.

I've never been hugely impressed on any of my FHR stays of a hotel delivering much more than promised, but one thing FHR does that I think is a good process is the hotel is supposed to give you a prepaid survey at the beginning of the stay (I say supposed, because on occasion I have not received it) that you can fill out after the stay. I think it's a good message to both the customer, that FHR wants to hear your experience, and the hotel knows that you're being asked this.

On my lone Hyatt Prive stay (so far) I did receive a typical survey about my hotel experience, does Prive do their own surveying?

Prive does not do their own surveying, but that is a fantastic idea. The hotel did actually send us a copy of the survey you did following your stay. So glad everything went so well.

I think one of the biggest things that makes a difference with Privé is the agent being proactive, reaching out to a hotel numerous times before a client's arrival (not only to confirm the room upgrade but to remind the hotel before check-in, etc.). The whole premise behind the Privé program is relationships, not just having relationships with clients but the agent also having relationships with hotels. That's what we strive for.

Yes, but I think that's already the aim (i.e. every property participating in Prive should already be delivering a great guest experience). "Great guest experience" is super subjective and dependent on so many different factors that can easily go "wrong" or fail to deliver. Things like 3rd Night Free or other guaranteed - and predictable - benefits are knowns and, to me at least, make for a more consistently positive experience.

I would be much more incentivized to stay at a property (/use a rate) where I am certain of the benefits I'll be getting (and the price I'll be paying for them) vs. relying on a property to provide a great experience (particularly since my view of "great" might be substantially different from another persons - or the property's - view of "great").

I would also think that marketing a program with tangible new things/benefits would also be easier to do vs. selling it on the basis of "we're going to do what we were originally supposed to be doing but now we're really actually going to do it. For reals this time."

It would be nice if Prive bookings could have room service breakfast like FSPP allows. Something safer during the pandemic and something I would use Prive for (even as a Globalist).

That tends to be much less true with Luxury focused demographics. Word of mouth is much more effective within this niche. Because of that, the soft product is in many ways more important than the hard product.

Totally agree that word of mouth is super important. But my point is that when it comes to enhancing/expanding the Prive program in a meaningful way, you can't just rely on word of mouth.

Most properties aren't going to treat Prive guests any differently on a "day to day" basis. Yes, they'll acknowledge it at check in, you'll get your welcome amenity, etc. but from that point onward you'll just be the same as a regular guest when it comes to most of the "soft product" experiences. E.g. when you go to breakfast, you're not going to get faster service or a more attentive server, housekeeping aren't going to make your room extra clean, you won't get extra fancy toiletries solely based on being a Prive guest, etc. etc.

For those "soft product" experiences you can certainly improve them - and it would be to the benefit of the hotel/guests in general - but it wouldn't be specifically targeting/improving the Prive program in the same way that Prive specific benefits would. Without those Prive specific benefits you'd be just as well off booking the property yourself directly or using your Chase/AmEx points to book and it lessens the value of the Prive agent.

In your view point, what is the difference between the soft services of Prive versus a Globalist asking their ambassadors for assistance at a property? Is Prive suppose to surpass the soft products and services of that a Globalist should receive? Is Prive building relationships that exceed what the Globalist ambassadors can offer?

I'm asking from the viewpoint of a new Hyatt member.

A couple new offers:

Thompson Zihuatanejo - 3rd night free (combinable with Privé benefits) through October 30th, 2021
Ararat Park Hyatt Moscow - 4th night free (combinable with Privé benefits) through September 30th, 2021

We've also negotiated complimentary parking for our clients at The Confidante, Royal Palms, Mar Monte and we're finalizing the benefit with a few others.

Really hoping for Manchester Grand Hyatt, Hyatt Regency Mission Bay, and HR/GH San Francisco.

I feel like Manchester Grand, Mar Monte, and the Confidante are all Cat 4 properties (for now Mar Monte is going up to Cat 5 in March so book now if you’re using a certificate) so they’ve been accustomed for awhile to providing complimentary parking for Globalists on Award stays. So they’re more open to giving a Yes to Complimentary parking on multi-night Prive’ stays.
