I wanted to get other Globs thoughts on this because I think it’s only purpose is to circumvent Globalist Complimentary Parking.
So there is a Suburban property that owns their parking lot 100%. However, they make guests pay through an app after checking in for their parking.
Because you they don’t allow you to bill it on your room they do not waive parking for Globalists, despite owning their parking lot and collecting revenue from parking. They do however have codes that waive parking cost in the app for an entire stay that can be given out, but are only given to friends of management.
They only started charging for parking about 6 months ago. So it was while the offer of Complimentary parking for everyone on Award stays was going on, which may have been an additional driving factor in app based payment rather than Bill to room.

Wow, the exceptions to free parking are when parking is not owned by hotel and cannot be charged to hotel bill, such as GH Washington DC. However, even in those cases, if hotel offers valet parking, then valet parking fees are charged to room and then it's free for on award stays. So, does this hotel offer valet parking? This should then be charged to room and thus free.
It's when the hotel has no parking and does not offer valet parking that there's no work around, like the HR Etoile Paris that I encountered once.

The parking lot is about 20 steps from the front door, it’s uncovered outdoor parking lot, very similar to what you’d see at most Hyatt Place properties. It is a Hyatt Regency though.
Yeah, my understanding as well was that the spirit of the policy was for properties who do not own their lot, and it’s completely operated by a 3rd party.
The bottom portion of the picture is of the hotel’s parking lot.

I'd let your concierge know. Might not change anything, but that's irritating.

So I emailed MHC along with Hyatt Consumer Affairs and I also CC’d Amy Weinberg as I definitely believe it to be not in line with the spirit or intention Hyatt’a policies.
Here’s what I wrote -
“I wanted to bring something to your attention because I believe it goes against the spirit of Hyatt’s policies.
The spirit of the Hyatt Globalist parking on Award Stays benefit is that if a property owns its parking lot and collects revenue from it, then Globalists should receive Complimentary Parking on Award Stays.
Hyatt Regency North Dallas/Richardson both owns its parking lot and is collecting revenue from it. The issue is that they force guests to pay through an app after checking in. Front Desk staff even told me on a recent stay that they set it up that way so that they could circumvent Hyatt’s Globalist Parking benefit.
Front Desk Staff also informed me that the hotel does have codes they can give out to waive the parking charge, but management instructed them not to provide them to World of Hyatt Globalists.”
Thoughts?

Think it perfectly describes the situation. Will be interesting to see what results. Thanks for working to keep them honest!

A bit of an update on HR North Dallas -
MHC has been trying to contact their GM to discuss and the GM continues to dodge her calls and emails.
Since my complaint they have now begun offering 2 new rate plans both inclusive of parking. If that’s not a sure indicator that parking should be included for Globalists on Award Stays (or everyone if a promo is offering it and Globalists on paid stays if a promo is offering it) I don’t know what is, am I wrong?
I just sent these rate plans to MHC as well after seeing them this evening so I’ll wait for her response.

Thank you Everyone! Do appreciate the feedback and help! ALWAYS appreciate the FT space!
20,000 points TOTAL for 4 nights HR ABQ is the real reason. It was 450$ after fees/taxes, so it seems like a "THAT WAS EASY", place to book.
Didn't even know there were HR's out there at 5k a night.....................
GREEN UNICORN for me.

Just curious, did the HR ABQ end up giving you the free parking on your award stay as Globalist? It looks like this hotel is reopening April 1, 2021 and I’m considering it as an alternative to the Hyatt Place for staying after a late night arrival into ABQ. But paying for parking on an award stay as Glob would be a drag.

That's great to hear that they are now properly including the parking on Globalist award stays. Hopefully they are still doing that when they resume operations this April. Thank you for the data point!

I recall my first stay there where they tried to tell me that only redeeming a Free Night Certificate qualified for the parking. I quickly contacted Hyatt to confirm if this was the case, which they explained it was not.

In Regards to Hyatt Regency North Dallas here’s the response I got from MHC -
“Extensive research into the matter has taken place to determine if the property has been processing parking charges properly. The results of this research produced no evidence of abuse, however, we do value you as an elite member.
In an effort to employ technology to assist our teams, there seems to have been a misunderstanding or miscommunication of our parking policies with regards to the property in question. On behalf of our colleagues at the hotel, I want to extend our sincerest apologies for the inconvenience when deploying new technology, we don’t always get it right.”
Which I don’t really understand as it’s unclear is why this is allowed, especially with them offering rates inclusive of parking.
So in an effort to better understand how they came to this conclusion I sent a follow up email.
”I do have a follow up question though. So how is it that this property owns its parking lot, offers packages inclusive of parking and is not required to provide Globalists Complimentary Parking on Award Stays?
I am genuinely curious how this is allowed by Hyatt. I know other properties like Grand Hyatt Denver do not even own their parking lot yet they still partner with the garage to provide Complimentary parking to Globalists on Award stays.
I do appreciate the research and committed follow up
Kind Regards”
