20 meetings will also give you the new top tier. Any ideas/experiences what is considered a meeting with Hyatt, is renting a small meeting room for one hour already sufficient?

What defines an eligible meeting / event to count towards elite status? A qualifying meeting or event is defined as one night with 10 or more occupied guest rooms per event or meeting. |
Not wanting to give Jeff Zidell any ideas because I'm a relieved/excited 60+ nighter, but it seems quite obvious to me that in 2018 or beyond when they want to hammer us on benefits/devalue the award chart, etc. we'll see a return of qualification via stays and/or award nights counting for status based on consultation blah blah...
But for now, I like the gamble that giving loyalists incentive to stay more at Hyatt will more than outweigh the loss from gamers giving up their mattress runs at a HP. |
Another devaluation for people staying at MLife Hotels & resorts:
The following table illustrates the reciprocal M life Rewards membership tier offered to Members: World of Hyatt Membership Tier Reciprocal M life Rewards Membership Tier Globalist Gold Membership Explorist Gold Membership Discoverist Pearl Membership Membership Sapphire Membership |
One upside, small though, but nonetheless we got to take all we can get :
after the first year you qualify for "globalist" it would appear requalification only needs 55 nights and not 60. Maintain Globalist status after 55 qualifying nights each subsequent year |
I think most of us here are going to love this Q&A from the FAQ: :mad:
Why doesn’t World of Hyatt offer a welcome amenity for Globalists? Based on feedback from guests, World of Hyatt focuses on benefits that are most valued, including room upgrades and free nights |

Given that the beverage amenity is almost always that undrinkable Canvas wine (and I'm usually not picky if the wine is a gift, but the Canvas red tastes like hay imo), I always do the 1W instead. I *will* miss those points, however.

I think Hyatt probably calculated if they award 4 DSU to someone spent 100/night for 25 nights, the corp may be literally losing money for each of these customer.

Hyatt doesn't pay anything for DSU's. I don't see how they could be losing money.

Based on feedback from guests, World of Hyatt focuses on benefits that are most valued, including room upgrades and free nights The honest response would be: "Because we can. And those points costs us money when you use them, and we'd rather just have you pay more and more often while we give you less of a rebate for your business". Unlike with the DSUs, the Hyatt points amenity end up costing Hyatt hotels real money. Sounds almost like Corp has cut the hotels a break when it comes to top-tier elites and can tell the Hyatt hotels: "We've reduced the real cost for the points/amenities for top-tier elites, and in exchange we hand over suite upgrades to a smaller group when and how you (the hotels) deem it 'available' since the suite upgrades don't cost us real money if you don't want them to cost you." |

As a diamond who has already requaled for diamond till Feb 2018 I have a few questions:
1. I am at 55 nights now, have been giving the rest of my nights to SPG because of their great promo, is there any benefit to shift the rest of my nights back to Hyatt to hit 60+ this year? 2. Will spending on the Hyatt Credit Card count towards the spend requirement for qualifying for globalist? 3. Since I have requaled for Diamond/Globalist already I think? Does this mean i only have to hit 55 nights next year to requal for 2019? |
Looking at the WoH T&C. Seems that C+P rates will no longer be eligible for use in Suite Upgrades or the new Club Upgrades?
1. Suite Upgrade Awards: A Room Upgrade Award for suite accommodations ("Suite Upgrade Award") may not be redeemed at all Hyatt hotel or resort locations and may have a minimum room-type requirement for the underlying reservation, including as described below. In order to redeem a Suite Upgrade Award at a Hyatt resort, a Member must pay the Standard Rate for a minimum of a deluxe room (such as partial ocean view, ocean view, slope view, etc.). In order to redeem a Suite Upgrade Award at a Hyatt hotel (that is not a resort), a Member must pay the Standard Rate for a minimum of a standard room. (PLEASE NOTE: The distinction between a Hyatt resort and a Hyatt hotel may not always be obvious when making reservations online and Members considering use of a Suite Upgrade Award are encouraged to make their reservation by calling Hyatt's central reservation service. Please visit hyatt.com for contact information.) There are a limited number of guest rooms available for Suite Upgrade Awards. Suite Upgrade Awards are only valid for standard suites, defined as each participating hotel's or resort's introductory suite category. Unless otherwise indicated, the point requirement for a Suite Upgrade Award is on a per-night basis. Suite Upgrade Awards count toward the night for which the award was redeemed, regardless of the length of stay. Suite Upgrade Awards are not valid at any of the Suite Award Ineligible Properties. 2. Club Upgrade Awards: A Room Upgrade Award for accommodations with Club lounge access ("Club Upgrade Award") is redeemable only at Hyatt hotels and resorts that have a Club lounge and are not valid at Hyatt Zilara, Hyatt Ziva, Hyatt Residence Club, Hyatt Place or Hyatt House hotels or resorts or M life Resorts. In order to redeem a Club Upgrade Award at a Hyatt resort, a Member must pay the Standard Rate for a minimum of a deluxe room (such as partial ocean view, ocean view, slope view, etc.). In order to redeem a Club Upgrade Award at a Hyatt hotel (that is not a resort), a Member must pay a minimum of the Standard Rate for a minimum of a standard room. Club Upgrade Awards are only valid for standard rooms with Club lounge access, as defined by the applicable hotel or resort. (PLEASE NOTE: The distinction between a Hyatt resort and a Hyatt hotel may not always be obvious when making reservations online and Members considering use of a Club Upgrade Award are encouraged to make their reservation by calling Hyatt's central reservation service. Please visit hyatt.com for contact information.) Unless otherwise indicated, the point requirement for a Club Upgrade Award is on a per-night basis. Club Upgrade Awards are valid only for the night for which the award was redeemed, regardless of the length of stay. |
