I got confirmation from Hyatt Twitter team, but wanted to check with the experts

If i book two rooms (no points, no C+P) at the same time and at the same Hyatt, and I have two DSUs left, can I apply them to both rooms so now I have two suites?

Hyatt Twitter says I can

Edit: Did some more sleuthing on FT and found that generally yes you can, but reports were from 2013

I've done it as well. As recent as 6 months ago.

I was able to book two rooms last week under my name - one P+C, one regular and apply two DSU upgrades. Two confirmed suites. No problem.

Good question and I don't know. I will say though that it will depend I guess on if they extend Diamond benefits to both rooms. That's a total YMMV and depends on the hotel. When I did it, we were staying at a hotel with a club. The hotel did, however, extend my benefits to both rooms. Both rooms had club access and I was able to choose 1k points AND a F&B option.

Agree that it's a YMMV type of thing. I will say that in the States, I have never been denied club access or breakfast for both rooms (up to four persons each). Sometimes I will call the hotel before I arrive to confirm if I have concerns.

Sounds the same. Just as we know it to be.

I booked 4 nights with non-refundable rate and now I find the last nights doesn't have suite available for upgrade. Could I just apply the DSU on the first 3 nights? Does anyone have such experiences? Thanks.

The T&C do not mention what the "expiration date" is, just that they may be used prior to the expiration date. I'm still hoping, maybe naively, that they will set the expiration date of the DSUs to be issued on March 1, 2016, a bit later than Feb 28, 2017. The end of April would be nice, and even just the end of March would alleviate some of the difficulty of applying a DSU on a spring reservation.

You think that they will set the expiration date of a Diamond Award beyond the qualifying time period of the Diamond tier?

I guess I would not go so far to say I think they WILL, but they certainly could.

Up until now there were plenty of opportunities for non-Diamonds to use DSUs, such as those failing a Diamond trial and also those booking a DSU for a stay at a future date after loosing Diamond status (which would also have been after the expiration date).

If they wanted, they could add another condition that member must have Diamond status at the time of the stay on which the DSU is applied.

It would just be so ridiculous to have only a DSU issued on March 1 be capable of being applied to a stay on March 1 (not to mention the international date line). Is even Hyatt that stupid?

I would say, yes they are that stupid..... I sometimes feel that they barely grasp how their own program us being used. Or sometimes abused...

And the silence the last few months is really exceptional. I haven't received any significant email from them about any if the events that have been impacting me (the data breach, the system upgrade and this change as well). It's only here that I found the information...
