No Facebook 😞. Unfortunately there’s also no points availability for the Ziva for our trip. To be honest if I did see families with kids, I’d feel guilty not bringing our son. Out of sight out of mind.

Staying here for our anniversary next month and cost 79,000points for 4 days and 3 nights. Kind of having buyers remorse because people are saying the Ziva is better, but my wife and I are leaving our toddler with the grandparents, so we want absolutely no kids for a few nights.
I did book chefs tables for $79 for a couple as an explorist rate. Anyone have any updates on it? Some poor reviews online complain about bar wait times. Has it got better? Saw a tip to bring 32oz thermoses and they’ll fill them up.

Just came back from the Zilara and my wife and I loved every minute of it! Got upgraded to a full ocean view, which I guess means higher floor, because I'm an exploits. The music at the pool was way too electronic, and I love good EDM, but it got a bit annoying. It's also pretty impossible to go up to the room for an afternoon nap if you're on the party pool side. The shows in the lobby were amazing, and the Den's bartenders were incredible! We had hibachi, and although the lobster was a little overcooked, everything else at the restaurant was great for an AI! Really impressed at the staff, including all the waiters and bartenders. They literally wait on you hand and foot.
The best part is if you go inside and talk to the excursion people, they'll set you up with an excursion and we went online afterwards and saw we didn't get ripped off at all and he took care of everything. All in all, we'll be back again!

Booked for four nights in November. I see that beer and cocktails are included.
is wine included as well? Seems odd to not be just thought I’d check.
also has anyone used the Zilara transport service to and from the airport? Would you recommend it? Any alternatives that are better?

Canada Transfers or USA Transfers are often recommended in Cancun. Unsure if they're two competing companies or the same company with two names. lol. I don't see the need to pay the premium for hotel transport. I think you could also just grab an Uber or taxi as well. I'm going to Zilara next week but I'll have a rental car since going to Tulum after.

5 star? Uhhhh, no
Just checked in. Maybe the experience was influenced by having to WALK the last half mile to the hotel, with luggage (no wheels), because a protest closed down the main access road for a political protest. Really? Tourists and locals alike had to hoof it in 87 degree heat. Did spot a dead alligator though.
So far, underwhelmed.
It’s an older redone hotel and calling all the rooms “suites” is charitable/wrong. Reminds me of an Embassy Suites — but those rooms are bigger. Was upgraded as a Globalist to an “oceanfront premium suite,” which as others note, is just a higher floor. It’s one room, with a bed that, oddly, has plastic under the sheets. Wow. Are there lots of bedwetters that stay here? And, as portrayed, there’s a hot tub right next to the bed. Again, odd.
Separate WOH check in was pleasant and they assigned an agent to escort to the room and she explained some of the features. Ipad in room also explains hotel offerings, though you can’t order anything or make reservations — have to call.
Dinner was at the poolside venue was ok — lots of upsells for wine and “specials”. The pulpo (octopus) was good, but the salmon in phyllo was a disappointment. This evening there was a cultural musical group performing in the atrium main floor with numerous food stations for guests. Maybe for first time visitors to Mexico it was novel, but the performances, though professional and sincere, were not my thing.
Been a number of years since I last visited Cancun. Apparently I didn’t miss much,

Any recent visits and reviews? Wife and I are considering Zilara among other Hyatt AI Cancun points options (Secrets Maroma Beach, maybe Secrets Moxche) for our first-AI experience next January. We're pretty quiet, like a room with an ocean view, and lean toward smaller properties with decent food and drinks, Zilara seems to fit the bill. But the last post/review from 3 months ago (and the idea of lots of upsells, boo), makes me question Zilara...

This is a smaller property. All rooms have an ocean view which may be a deciding point for you. Food and drinks were good and a nice mix of restaurants. It is an older property, but well taken care of. I have said here four times. I don't remember any upsells. Secrets Moxche is a much nicer property, but you are going to pay for that ocean view.

Wife and I just stayed here for 3 nights. Really enjoyed our stay. We booked at the Dreams Sands for 4 nights using points...after one night, I called Hyatt and got moved to Zilara...boy am I glad I did!
All rooms are large and have direct ocean views. I didn't know the resort was old...should tell you how well maintained it is. Housekeeping and maintenance really do a phenomenal job of keeping this place is top shape! Restaurants were all very good, had corona (which for some reason a lot of the all inclusives don't), and good liquor...better than others I've been to.
Pools are heated and very nice. The one complain I, and apparently everyone else there had was the seating situation. The pool is completely surrounded by cabanas...very few of them are free, most you have to pay to rent. Free cabanas on the beach are more plentiful, but back behind the ones that cost money and get a lot of shade. We paid $69/day for a beach cabana the first two days to make sure we had one and to not have to stress about getting up. Last day there, we got up and headed down at 6:30am to watch sunrise and get a cabana for the few hours of sun we would be there for...we got the very last one there! I would say plan on spending the money to get a cabana if you go.
Gym facilities were very nice, and there is a nice lap/infiniti pool there. Saw some people using it for late afternoon sun as it's on the west side (lagoon) of the hotel.
Service was very friendly. As a globalist we had a "butler" that I normally do not care for...Ingrid our butler was amazing. Spoke great English, and was there for what we needed when we needed it and was not pushy at all.
House keeping, as I mentioned was top notch!
Any questions, let me know!

There was definitely no mention of the chefs table being free...that was one of the extras not included in the all inclusive.

Does anyone know whether booking a room here under https://www.resortsbyhyatt.com/ constitutes a direct booking wrt EQN?
For my target dates, there doesn't seem to be any availability when looking on hyatt.com (hotel blocking rooms?) but if you go through the other website, then a promotional rate appears that claims to earn Hyatt points.
