Adding G1 code --> higher "best rate"?
Looking at four days in Guam. Cheapest rate (Hyatt Daily Rate) for two people is $200. But there's a G1 bonus available. However, if I add the "G1" bonus code to the booking, the $200 is no longer offered and the cheapest rate becomes the "Awaken" package for $240/night.
Now, I know that I can leave off the G1 code and after the stay email GP to have the G1 bonus posted, but quite honestly it seems somewhat misleading to show people the bonus offer on the property page, then charge them extra if they click on it and book with the bonus code.

Call the diamond desk or your private line agent and they will add it onto your reservation.

I had two reservations that the G1 code had been left out of. Called the Plat desk and ten minutes later, I had 3000 extra GP points, and this was a week after the various stays...

I agree with the OP . thousands of people must've been duped by this practice.
I've had to call and have the Gx bonus added later at least 40 times since the hotel doesn't permit it to be added unless you book a marked-up rate or some kind of package.
Hyatt Sha Tin !! you are guilty of doing this for at least the past year.
Hyatt Manila, another one that always does this.

bad taste
But, dear Lurkers, please note that those of us who have experienced it:
1. Have a bad, bait-and-switch-type taste left in our mouths
2. Waste a lot of GP rep time adding G- bonuses to reservations either before or after the stay. I, for one, never even add them at reservation any more because I am tired of this practice, so I am calling GP CS to do it, or reminding the property at check-in. Ick.

I read you posts. What`s unclear to me is what you expected to accomplish by posting this information, if your objective was not to solicit practical advice on how to get around the problem.
It`s obvious that this glitch is potentially misleading, but it is certainly not the first time we have heard about issues like this, however minor, on Hyatt.com. What`s great about FT is that the information here helps to equip us with the knowledge and self help tactics needed to get around these problems.

- Find out if others had seen this problem before and if it was a common issue
- Give the GP lurkers an opportunity to comment on the issue (or pass it along to their web team)
I was not looking for practical advice on how to get around it as you can perhaps see from the fact that I included a workaround in my very first post.
