GP Points upgrades

Should have been easy to find, but I have not so far...Are prepaid "limited offer" rates eligible for GP point club and suite upgrades??

Yes, I've already upgraded 2 different stays. But since you have to call to book suite upgrades, asking the question is almost moot

Yes, but I did not want to book the non-refundable rate and not be eligible for the upgrade.

Question#2. I am booking two nights paid, followed by one night FFN at the GH Hong Kong. What is the best strategy for having the 3rd night included in the upgrade.

1. Hope they do not want to move us and leave it to the hotel
2. Ask the hotel in advance.
3. ??

When redeeming Regency/Grand Club Upgrades or Suite Upgrades at a resort property, you must pay a minimum of the prevailing deluxe rack rate (such as partial ocean view, ocean view, slope view, etc.). At non-resort properties you must pay a minimum of the prevailing rack rate.

The above are the rules for using points to upgrade to RC or suites. If it were me I would have reservations Book the room at the same time they do the upgrade. this way you can back out if the upgrade can't happen.

My question is...which deluxe rack rate is it. At Hawaii resorts there is partial ocean view, ocean view and deluxe oceanfront rooms all at different rates.

I believe for Waikiki it is the Deluxe Oceanfront room that one must book in order to use points for a Regency Club upgrade.

Edit: If you are a Hyatt Diamond, the hotel will make every effort (almost always successfully) to place you on the Regency Club floor.

The confusing part being of course that they do not use the term rack rate anywhere. I assume the "prevailing" rate is the equvilent.

Yes you are correct. To upgrade using points you usually have to pay a relatively high rate (close to the "prevailing" rate) while the Diamond Suite upgrade usually allow you to upgrade from just about any rate on hyatt.com.
