[Discussion ONLY] Hilton Osaka $3/night at Travelocity
NOTE from the Moderator: Please read this post from Travelocity's CEO before making any further posts on this thread.
Guess farealert is good for something:
The Hilton Osaka (Japan) is offering Executive Rooms for around 250-350 JPY per night (about $3 USD). Both Executive Twin and Executive King rooms are available for many nights between now and the end of 2006. It looks like you need to include a weekend in order to book this low rate. You must include both a Friday and Saturday night in order to book this. In order to book this rate, visit Travelocity.com, click the "Hotel" tab, enter your dates (you must include a Friday and Saturday night in your reservation), and "Japan" as the country and "Osaka" as the city, and click the "Search Hotels" button.
You will not see the low rate listed in the rates for the Hilton Osaka, but you will see it listed as an "Executive Choice" rate with the disclaimer "Nightly rate changes". If you click the "Nightly rate changes" link, you will see the low rate, and if you click "Select", you'll be able to book it.

Man, I hope they honor it because it really makes up my mind about where I'm going for summer break

Just a heads up~when you agree to the hotel policies, you're agreeing to the higher rates (it's all in that box). For example, I checked for Thanksgiving week, and get the low rate to show, but this comes up in the "Agree to Hotel Policies" box:
Room/Rate Code Policy
KING EXECUTIVE ROOM SPECIAL EXEC FLOOR RATES AND
BENEFITS SUBJECT TO AVAILABILITY.
34650 PER NIGHT STARTING 22NOV06
40425 PER NIGHT STARTING 25NOV06
34650 PER NIGHT STARTING 26NOV06
TAXES AND SERVICE CHARGES INCLUDED
So....I would think this gives them an 'out' to charge you the entire amount. Then again, it's not Expedia...

Got it for May 27-June 5 (7 nights altogether). Almost booked it through the AMEX site, but decided to just go to Travelocity (who runs the AMEX site).
But it's not a prepaid thing, so I doubt this will be ok in the end.
