Talking Lemex will fix it

Dear Lemex

Please would you fix it for me to stay at the JW Marriott in Hong Kong for $5 per night. I am staying for 3 weeks in March and would really like to stay in a 5 Star Hotel for next to nothing.

Yours sincerely.

Kidding aside, I like his posts. Sure, the odds I can actually use one is remote, but you never know when you'll happen to be in Antwerp on a Tuesday in February. Regardless, the posts are fun. They show how crazy the world of travel pricing is. Just for pure entertainment, they're worth reading.

So keep 'em coming!

I absolutely agree!
I always look forward to his/her posts - I was even able to take advantage of one of the near-free hotel rates (s)he posted!

The JW Marriott in Hong Kong is NOT a 5* hotel. Try the Mandarin Oriental or Peninsula in Kowloon.

I actually prefer the Sheraton...if you have the Harbor View room. ^

Absolutely no offense to Lemex, but be careful of these Travelocity 'deals' being posted. In my case, Travelocity is not honoring the price, so it's not quite all it's cracked up to be. Lemex, have you actually purchased any of these great deals you've posted? Advice, please!

Read on.....

No... I have not purchased one for myself (yet!)... not enough time for that.

I spend too much time reasearching and finding these deals.

This is too much addictive.

Please someone stop me.

There, there lemex...
I'm afraid I get way too much of a thrill every time I see your handle come up under a new post on this forum, so I'm not a good candidate to lead you into the grey and boring realm of cold turkey...

However, I do take BEAV's experience very seriously, and I would advise anybody reading this not to purchase flights or make any other kind of investment without reconfirming with Travelocity and getting their assurance that they will honour the hotel rate.

BEAV. Did you get ever get a proper confirmation number from the hotel rather than just an itinerary number from travelocity? Even though your email probably said your booking was confirmed - was this reflected in the itinerary details in 'your stuff' in the website?

The "my stuff" section at Travelocity, includes a Travelocity trip ID number, status of "confirmed", and a confirmation code number. When clicking the link beside the confirmation code, the following information appears in a pop up window:

"Hotel Status
Status
A confirmed reservation displays a confirmation code for the hotel’s use. If your reservation is pending, you will be notified via e-mail when your reservation has been confirmed."

So by everything I have in my Travelocity account info, it appears I'm fully confirmed. Also, my credit card was fully charged for the prepaid reservation 3 days before Travelocity called and said they weren't going to honor the rate.

As info, I will provide updates to the situation on the thread I linked a few posts up, rather than posting on both threads. I just wanted to offer a word of caution on this thread....

Lemex,

I fully understand the 'addiction' issue, so you won't see my trying to stop you!
