Who's going? Add your name here. If folks see that quite a few are going, it may incentivize them. Could turn into some mini-DOs.

I looked at the ferry website and got the impression that it was stopping permanently

I'd be super surprised, honestly, if they cancelled the Sakhalin ferry. Two remote-ish places with a mutually beneficial tourism setup. I didn't see anything on the website about that though did find this article that indicates in the future there will be MORE ferries, maybe even April-December. Just possibly not with Heartland.

Either way, I though Rebun/Rishiri were pretty cool, worth checking out especially if you can get there for wildflowers.

+1, and now that Russia/Japan relations are blossoming thanks to the ingenious position that Japan took vis-a-vis sanctions (they very publicly banned all imports to Japan of wine produced in Crimea), I would suspect that there's good traffic between the two.

Hope y'all don't mind, I plugged a wikipost at the top. Add your name there. If folks see that quite a few are going, it may incentivize them. Might turn into some mini-DOs.

This hotel deal pushed me to at long last step foot in Japan. With AAdvantage's awesome flexibility, I'll be able to change dates or even reroute and skip out at BKK/HKG/KIX/TYO for free, if I change my mind about going to WKJ...

Just make sure you actually visit Japan. Gauging it by WKJ is like gauging America by Anchorage.

Anchorage is the largest city in AK by a long shot, you'd be surprised how many people are familiar with it. Of course, I have friends living in Homer just outside Anchorage. Barrow or maybe Nome would be no-name towns similar to Wakkanai in the middle of nowhere. /nitpick

Well, I did promise I'll never be back in my blog, didn't I? Time to keep that promise

Weather is apparently way nicer than last time (like 20C higher than before). I might actually enjoy it this time!

Interestingly, hotel is completely sold out for the next two weeks.
