Only been there once and thought it was quite over-rated. The food and ingredients so-so, the dishes didn't quite hang together and the service a bit OTT. Nothing bad, just nothing great.

Spoon. Never been to Harlan's, but that's not a very auspicious name for a restaurant.

Spoon is the only "bad" restaurant at the IC (ex-Regent). Their other restaurants are superb. Spoon is still good but not as good as elsewhere and over-priced. Pen is much better for the same price point, or stick to Yu which I still think is one of the finest seafood restaurants in the world (definitely in the top 10, along with Le Bernardin in NYC).

apparently spoon still has the hottest tables in town. you still have to book a week in advance for a table.

Rumor has it (or maybe already) that Yu was closing and a Ducasse or a Nobu were going in its place. Too bad.

Ate at Spoon last weekend with a local picking the menu items for us. We had a pretty good meal I would say.

What did you have? (I've found the menu @spoon to be a bit perplexing.)

Any more specifics as to what you enjoyed about the meal?

I had meals at YU last month - for some reason, it wasn't as extraordinary as I remembered it the first time. We had booked a table at SPOON, but canceled it as soon as my friend discovered the menu is not that much different with the one in London and Paris. I personally find the mix and match thingy a bit silly.

The best meal I had last month was at the IC's Chinese Restaurant (forgot the name). We should've gone there for Peking Duck as well. The one we got sent to (by the Ferry building) is mediocre, to say the least. The Peking Duck restaurant in NYC is much better than that one.

In my opinion, hot tables do not necessarily mean great food.
