Nano SIM availability in HK/Macau
Hi folks,
I'm planning to visit HK soon and am wondering if I will have any problems finding a prepaid nano SIM there. I will also be spending a day or two in Macau, so whatever SIM I end up purchasing will need to work there as well. Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated!
Bob

No problem getting nano sim. When you buy the sim just tell them you need a nano sim.
As for Macau and HK, they are different territories. Yes, your HK sim may work in Macau, but you will be paying quite a lot for roaming.

There's another thread that discusses best prepaid plans that will be helpful.
When you land, there is a 1010 retail store at the departure level that sells prepaid voice and data plans...they provide very good service and menu of sim cards.

Mods, can we just merge with existing thread?
@ OP, there's no point getting a sim if you're going to Macau for a day or two. There's free WiFi everywhere, every casino, and even onboard most free shuttle buses. Touristy areas have free WiFi sponsored by the gov't too.

There is a HK-Macau SIM that can be reached in Macau on a HK number.
It is valid for a month without recharge. Airtime is on the expensive side with 0.7 HK$ per minute but applies to HK and Macau equally.

Thanks for the info! However...I'm probably more interested in data than voice, so this may not be the right solution for me. Somebody else told me I shouldn't worry too much about data, because he said that Macau has free wifi almost everywhere you go...do you know if that's true?

Just make sure you go to the actual carrier's phone store to buy the nano sim. I don't think 7-121 or Circle K sells those small ones, just regular SIM Card sizes. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

Most SIMs I've seen at those stores are pre-cut (i.e. you can just pop out the small part), but the stores themselves also have cutters for the rest of the lot.

Actually the 7-11s and Circle K's I've been to generally sell both mini and nano sims.
