anyone stayed at *The Upper House* before?
I noticed the "The Upper House" during my last stay in HK, when I was running between JW Marriott and Conrad ... It shares the same building with JW Marriott, and a Swire Hotels property. Just wondering if anyone has stayed there before and your recommendations? I may try this one next time if it has good comments from you guys, as I can earn CX points by staying in this hotel.

We booked 8 rooms just before they opened for family reunion and got special promo price. Very good size rooms, typical excellent HK 6-star hotel service.
It's pricey without the promo price....but highly recommend the place to anyone.

TripAdvisor rankings are just monstrously useless. If you want to read comments on individual hotels, sure; but for comparative purposes? Not so much.
Currently rated #11 for Hong Kong is the Landmark Mandarin Oriental; and #12 is the Novotel Citygate. Now; I'll grant you that I agree the LMO is better than the Novotel Citygate but I suspect there's a few hotels that ought to come between them.
The Novotel (which is in Tung Chung and therefore convenient for nothing other than the airport -- I mean, is there ANYTHING commercial out there?) is ranked as a better business hotel than the LMO which is located slap-bang in the middle of Central.

There is the CityGate mall. I guess that's commercial enough.

Found a blog entry about the hotel with a lot of photos.
http://kimsalmela.hotelmaison.com/20...hong-kong.html
It's more about the interior design than anything else though.

This is my favorite hotel in HK and would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone. excellent view from any angle (which gives it an edge over the Landmark MO), amazing bathroom, comfortable decor and atmosphere, etc.
The only downside I can think of right now is that the gym is pretty lame and lacks a pool so if such facilities are important to you then the Four Seasons is probably a better bet.
