FEBRUARY 6, 2020 UPDATE

Loyalty Lobby has reported and the FlyerTalk Hilton Honors Ambassador has confirmed that MVP rates can no longer be booked via the MVP website without the required association with targeted sports programs.

OCTOBER 5, 2016 UPDATE

There are new MVP codes that can once again be booked in the "Corporate" field of a particular hotel (not all hotels, of course, will always have MVP rates available):

Hampton Inn, Embassy Suites, Homewood Suites, Doubletree, etc. 0561135262 or 0560041604 (check both codes - as some some properties offer MVP rates - but only via one of the codes, not both).

HGI and Hilton 1135262 or 0041604 (check both codes - as some some properties offer MVP rates - but only via one of the codes, not both).

These codes now also work on the mobile app.

So, you have three choices:

1) Use http://stay.hilton.com/mvp/
2) Use the above corporate codes on the main website.
3) Use the above corporate codes in the Hilton app.

NOTES:

1. When the MVP rate is not available (usually 20% discount), often the "Team USA" rate (15%) will be. Use corporate codes 0002635191 (or sometimes ) 2635167.

2. Homwood Suites are often anomalous in their pricing, with AAA and Sr Rates often cheaper than either MVP or Team USA rates.

******************

Summary of answers to incessantly asked questions
  • YES, MVP can be used by anyone
  • There is no "sports affiliation" required. ( The only HHonors brand still retaining that verbiage in the "Rate Details" for a booking is the Homewood Suites. If you're really worried, you can get a USGA membership for $36
  • There are many reports that the MVP rate can't be booked by the hotel itself or Customer Service; must be done by the guest online.
  • Other reports say if you call in and ask what rates are available, they're not supposed to tell you about the MVP. But, they can offer it if you specifically request it.
  • The rate accrues the normal points.
  • The rate is as eligible for upgrades as any other rate, depending on your status, etc.
  • When MVP rate is not available, the Team USA rate is often the next best choice.

NEW: As of ~April 2015, using the corporate codes for MVP on the regular site seems to not return any MVP rates. Instead go to hiltonfamilymvp.com

In the "Corporate Account" box type:

For MVP - 0041604 for Hilton and HGI; 0560041604 all others. MVP rates are not commissionable to agents; a very few properties may require press credentials - read booking terms.

I've got upcoming trips to Hawaii and Boston, and the sports language is on all of the rates rules - Hilton Hawaiian Village, Boston Downtown Faneuil Hall, Hampton Inn Braintree, Hilton Logan Airport...just because some of you have not come across the sports language, I certainly have - take a look especially at the Hampton Inn Braintree, I quoted it several pages ago and it is still on the website.

True, many times I have just seen "Hhonors number required", but many times I've seen these variations on the sports affiliation language.

Everyone is right...the sports affiliation language is common, and the wiki is incorrect.

We made a donation to the US Swim team. Then went to the site below to book. I do not see anything on the booking page about documents needed. We of course do not have a membership card.

Any concern?

Stayed at 4 Hilton's last week. Did OLCI for all, using MVP rate. No issues.

I think that part about HS being the only brand with affiliation verbiage needs to be removed too. The language referring to credentials - ID, etc. - seems to be showing up on a property-by-property basis, not a brand basis. Do others agree?

Not sure which part was updated, but in reading it, a question.

It seems that MVP and TeamUSA are used inter-changeably. Or are they different programs. The website for booking is different.

http://stay.hilton.com/mvp/

and

http://teamusa.hhonors.com/

They are different programs but no reason why you can't use whichever one works best for you, so they are inter-changeable. Any particular concerns?

I guess it comes down to possibility of someone requesting "documents".

On the MVP page it says :
"Please note: You must be an athletic administrator, athlete, or affiliated with a sports entity, sports-related company, sports group or event to be eligible. You will be asked to show credentials, such as an official business card designated with your team logo, etc"

I do not see anything on the TEAMUSA page.

weird link behavior

When I click on the MVP link in the post by NoStressHere, I do not land on the MVP page. The TeamUSA link seems to behave as expected. Any ideas?

If I copy the displayed text and paste it in my browser (Firefox on Mac), then I do go to the MVP page. For that matter, if I hover and copy the link location, then paste that in the browser, I land on the MVP page. It's just clicking on the link that misfires. What would cause that?

In case it matters, clicking on the link takes me to <http://www3.hilton.com/en/index.html>.

This has been reported somewhere upstream.... I don't know the technological reason, but, as you note, typing in or setting up a shortcut for stay.hilton.com/mvp/ works fine.

It might be caused by Hilton checking the referrer. But apparently not; right clicking the link and opening in a New Private Window (which should blank out the referrer) still gets the regular Hilton site.

I wonder if http://HiltonFamilyMVP.com works from here.

Nope; Hilton apparently just doesn't like Flyertalkers using the MVP site. I guess we can't follow links from here. Not a major problem, obviously.
