Still really torn between staying here or at the Grand Hyatt - especially now that I see that upgrade opportunities are looking really really limited at the Conrad based on what they are currently selling online over my dates (but then again, I would still get lounge access so I guess no big deal there). Also, I can earn HHonors points relatively easily due to the number of meeting/convention contracts I do at Hilton so I think I can replenish the well shortly. While if I go to the Grand Hyatt, I would be spending two nights in a Grand Club room and the third night I would need to move to a regular room since I booked it using my Chase Anniversary cert.

With all of the above, I am thinking of just staying put at the Conrad as originally planned and just soaking in the Balinese sun because it is chilly 31F here in Chicago (with some snow expected) and be grateful that I will be there instead of here for a few days!

If you do decide on Conrad, please provide feedback once you return from your trip. Would love to hear about the upgrade (if any) and service that you are receiving.

It is unlikely that the Hyatt would have you move rooms. At worst, just no club access the last day.

Either way, just make sure you let us know how it goes.

Well - looks like they got a bit shook up! I responded to their note yesterday with the spa appointment and dinner reservation times I wanted and they responded to me as soon as their office opened today (in fact, I had their response last night at 8pm Chicago time). Feeling better about this choice. Now it's up to them to deliver onsite!

Quick question...

What is best option for breakfast as diamond? Options appear to be Rin, Suku and Spice? Also is there any a la carte options at breakfast? Many thanks

KLflyerRalph Jan 28, 2017 4:57 am

There are a la carte options available. We found Rin the best with much more personal service. You also have the option of Japanese offerings.

Hi, I am planning on staying at the Conrad Bali for four nights in a few months, we found a great rate ($200/nt after taxes). I am HH Gold, besides free breakfast are there any property specific amenities for Hilton Gold? I have read about amenities for Diamond's (i.e. 15% of room charges) but nothing about gold benefits. Conrad Maldives has a nice page listing the Diamond and Gold Benefits, however I can't find anything similar for the Conrad Bali.

Also- is the breakfast a cheap in Executive Lounge breakfast or do you have the option of going to all the restaurants?

We are also in a Garden room but I am thinking about using points to upgrade to an Ocean View room. I have also read that they offer suite upgrades at time of check in, does anyone know how much this generally costs? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

As Diamond we paid 60US$ from Ocean Front to Conrad Suites. I think that as HHonors Gold there are no perks. You get definetely no access to the lounge with Afternoon Tea or Happy Hour.

They are not giving any Conrad Suites upgrade neither for Gold nor for Diamond members. The best upgrade is to a key lagoon room.

Stayed here as a gold and can confirm that we received 1 category upgrade and since we booked the lowest category, we didn`t receive upgrade to the executive room and was not granted executive lounge access.

Breakfast was served in the main restaurant, and it was lovely indeed.

After a few days travelling around Bali on holiday with mates and having ‘some fun’ ,I decided to stay a couple extra days and try some Hilton properties for a bit of relaxing. Combined with some great rates in hilton sale and the amazing promos on at the moment these stays both earn a good few points. I tried the ‘new’ Hilton Bali resort ans the Conrad over the space of two nights. I realise a night at these hotels is not much but feel I got a good feel of them and give a decent report. Report from Hilton Bali here: https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/hilt...ort-idn-3.html

Ok, I will say straight off I was impressed with this place. Yes it is showing it's age slightly but they treat diamonds well and resort is lovely.

I got here around 1pm and did have to wait till 3pm for check in. Upgraded from basic garden view to Ocean view. Was warmly welcomed and given rundown of benefits.

The room was lovely especially the bathroom. The furnishings are a slightly dated but also classy IMO. Great bedding and pillows as you should expect from a Conrad. No nespresso machine which was disappointing. Great view over the pool and 'beach'.

The grounds I really liked at this hotel. Plenty of space and even though hotel was fairly full and it was CNY never seemed busy at all. Cabanas are great for when the rain came on and pretty good service around pool/gardens. Being honest though the beach is not great. Very unnatural and full of people trying to sell you watersports. They get right up to the resort and try and solicit business. Got quite annoying but not much Conrad can do as it is a public beach I believe. I did do some jet skiing but did it through the hotel and didn't mind paying slightly more it due to probably better insurance.

The diamond benefits here are what makes this place so great I think and get you your value. I will attach the benefits letter but the rundown is:

Breakfast - Three options. RIN, Suku and Spice. RIN was quietest and had great a la carte options which I always prefer over buffet.

Afternoon tea- This could be taken in Club suites lounge (above RIN) or in the lobby lounge. I loved how this was A La Carte with an amazing selection of drinks. The milkshakes are delicious! They come round with trays of scones, cakes, sandwiches etc. I liked this setup and I had it in lobby lounge.

Evening cocktails- Again this could be taken in RIN or lobby lounge. Decent drinks selections and again they bring you rounds trays or little bites. These were all very nice.

Not quite sure about during the day if you can go to suites lounge for drinks etc as never tried. It was never busy during these meal times and had nice atmosphere with great service.

Really enjoyed this resort and could see myself coming back for a longer stay. Thought it was leaps and bound ahead of Hilton Bali resort. Far more relaxed, better diamond treatment, service, room etc.

Currently at the Conrad Bali and here are some initial impressions:

1. I did arrange a transfer from the airport to the resort ($22 one way). Glad I did - the arrivals area was a zoo. I landed at 3:30 and it took nearly 60 minutes to get from the plane, through immigration, customs and then out to the arrivals area. Hotel Staff had sign and it was a relatively quick ride to the resort.

2. Somehow I thought the area around the resort would be a bit "spiffier" - it wasn't. It reminded me of some of the areas around San Juan as you drive out to Dorado.

3. Warmly welcomed at Check-In. Had booked a Resort King with points and was given the option of checking into a regular room now (Thursday pm here) and upgrade to a Lagoon King for Friday & Saturday nights or pay $80 and upgrade to a Conrad Suite for all three nights. I went with the paid upgrade so I could be close to Lounge, Private Conrad Suites Pool, etc. they did not have one ready so I was escorted to Lounge for Happy Hour while they finished the room. It was well over a hour and I started fading fast so asked if I could just bail on the upgrade and do a regular room. About 5 minutes later, they came to take me to my suite.

4. I was in what can only be viewed as the absolute furthest corner of the resort. I was on the fourth floor corner near the Suites entry gate from the street and some rundown buildings next door. Dogs either on that property or nearby kept me up all night. Suite was very large and great for a family but way overkill for a solo traveler. Also some repair items that should have been fixed before I got in the room: tv remove in bedroom didn't work, cordless phone in living room didn't work and the electrical socket next to the couch didn't work. Shower was very difficult to adjust to the correct temp (either scalding or cold). Couch in the living room was comfy and the AC worked extremely well.

5. Went down to the front desk this morning and asked if I could bail on the Suites upgrade and move to a lagoon room. Agent was very kind, said he would work to get me one but it would likely be later in the day before I received on. Totally fine with that - would rather have access to the pool versus the extra space in the suite.

6. Grounds are very well maintained! There was a literal army of folks out at 6am this morning cleaning the pool, taking care of the loungers, etc. the weather has been rainy but they seem to have kept up on stray leaves, etc.

7. Don't come here for the beach - if you want that, go to Mexico, Hawaii, Caribbean.... anywhere but here. The pool complex is stunning so that's good for me.

Off to go find coffee and breakfast. Later today it will be time for my spa appointment and a workout.

And it gets better........

Had a nice breakfast at RIN and then went back to my room to catch up on email from the US. I decided to get in a quick workout (too much airplane food &a wine!) and, on the way back, decided to check on my spa appointment for this afternoon. I was not informed either when I made my reservation or checked in that the spa is CLOSED for renovations until 9 February! Really unhappy about this. They are doing massages in some rooms that they set up but I like doing the whole "spa" thing. Went back to the Club Lounge and the ladies there knew my name (+1 for that) and were very apologetic. They are working on getting me a lagoon room which I'll just have to wait for someone to check out. They did offer to move me to a Conrad Ocean Suite but for $80/night it's not worth it since I really get all of the benefits by being a Diamond. So, the Front Office Manager called to apologize, they are working to get things squared for me to move and he waived the upsell charge. He did try to say that the spa wasn't "closed" because they were still doing massages, just in another area. Nice try - but no cigar on that one.

So far, I would say this is probably living up to all of the bad press I had read. Maybe there were be some better service recovery moving forward - ever hopeful. I will say that the line staff are very helpful, polite and eager to please but can't put my finger on where the disconnect is taking place.

I hate to say it, but I have found all three Hilton properties in Bali to be lacking in customer service, and Gold/Diamond benefits. The Hilton Bali Resort has promise if they can get remodeling done, and improve customer service.

Given the amount of money that they charge for spa services, it's ridiculous to try and bend the truth. I'd certainly cancel them and find an outside service that will likely be 1/3-1/2 the price.

ORDPLATAA Feb 3, 2017 6:11 pm

Okay - things are looking up! Had popped by the front desk about 2:45pm yesterday to check on my room and they said it wasn't quite ready but they were doing a final walk through. I said I was heading to the tea at RIN and they said they would let me know when it was ready. In the meantime, I stopped in the lounge and asked the ladies there to make a spa appoint ment at The Westin Nusa Dua and make dinner reservations for me at Bumbu Bali. Both were taken care of in about 10 minutes and they arranged transfers to dinner for me. All in all, very helpful. Once I finished tea, my room was ready so I waited for a bellman and off we went. I hate to say it, but I like the Deluxe Lagoon better than the Conrad Suite. To me, the suites are just too isolated.

Anyway, had a great nights sleep and looking forward to a great day (now that the sun is out!).
