Caesars is a Starwood, not a Hilton, for frequent-guest purposes, but not fully one (I can't recall the details).

I stayed at Paris over Thanksgiving weekend using only points. I booked it mid-September without any difficulty. Nice property!

The Vegas Caesars is (or was) owned by Starwood, but Hilton's Park Place folks are managing it. It's a weird situation with the Vegas hotels.

Las Vegas: Paris - 65,000 pts

Hello all,

I was wondering if making an award reservation at the Paris @ Las Vegas is worth 65k points (the highest level in the Hilton hotel awards type) for a weekend. I've never been to the casino (never ventured there, don't know why), and know absolutely nothing about the hotel accomodations.

BTW, I did confirm with the reservation folks that they are still taking Hilton awards and participate in the HH program...

Thanks folks!

I would base this decision on the lowest rate I could get for a room at the Paris. I stayed two months ago for a compnay paid business trip, and had a very nice room. It's the nicest hotel I've stayed at in Las Vegas.

I payed $165 per night, and only because there was a big convention at that time. I know that many time you can get a rate as low as $45. Go to the Paris web site (www.paris-lv.com) and check for internet specials rates, which are better than you would get anywhere else.

If you can get a rate of less than $100, I would say go ahead and pay for the room, and save your points for a much more expensive hotel stay somewhere else. I know that many of the "Premium Points" hotels go for much MUCH more than $100 per night.

But then again, you may have 600,000 points and 65k points is nothing to you. In that case, you can't go wrong with the Paris. The location and hotel are fantastic! Definitely go to the Village Buffet for breakfast/lunch, you won't be dissappointed!

Ok, since I have absolutely no concept of points vs. cost:

The two nights that I plan to use the reward points are going to cost $180 and $200, respectively. So that's probably about $420 total for the two nights after tax.

$420 versus 65,000 points: is it worth it?

I have found most LV hotels have a wide range of room rates for any nights EXCEPT whern there is a big sporting event. I would check

www.travelscape.com

first to see how low you can get a room for. $200 a night at Paris is a LOT of money to pay for what are usualy smaller than LV average rooms...if you ge t upgraded their premier rooms are quite nice.

This probably sound simplistic, but the way I figure the cost of a Hilton Reward stay is still use the .02 cents per mile rule.

Since you can convert 1 mile to 2 points (for most airlines), I would calculate your stay as follow:65,000 points/2 = 32,500 miles X .02 = $650.00.

There are SEVERAL properties in Vegas that Hilton or Park Place Entertainment owns, 3 within walking distance to Paris: Ballys, (connected to Paris) Ceasars Palace (across the street), Flamingo Hilton (across from Ballys & Ceasars). They also have several Embassy Suites in Vegas which I believe are Select Levels, thought it is off the strip by the Convention Center.

I wouldn't blow them on any Vegas hotels, I'd use them for upmarket nondiscount properties in better locations. In my opinion all the top Vegas properties are the same and can be gotten for under $100 a night.

Save your points and just find a good rate in Vegas. I stayed at the Doubletree Club on Warmsprings, off the strip, it was very nice and very quiet.

jan-az, good for you! I'm going in August and I'm paying $79 (the lowest rate offered when I booked in May).

Here is the correct link to the Paris Las Vegas site:
http://www.paris-lv.com

Their special offers page:

As a gold HH memeber, what's the chances of being upgraded at Paris during a weekend stay?

Any shot at all?

I used 65,000 HHonors points for a weekend stay at Paris LV this May. Was upgraded to bigger room. Hotel was nice but probably not quite up to the Premium catagory. Had I to do over again I would save my points.

Definately save your points and look for a good rate on their website, or other hotel booking sites. You should be able to get a room there for $89 or less (except on busy convention or sporting event dates, and never on Friday or Saturday nights) for stays from Sunday through Thursday. Use your points for more pricier hotels.
