Been there at least three times as Diamond in the past year. Got executive floor but that is about it. Never a suite. Always very busy there.

The best way to guaranty a suite is to book one.

That's been my experience as well. Just in case, you may try contacting their Accommodation Request Team at [email protected] or call them directly at 202-639-5789. I wouldn't hold the breath though...

Are there any other Hilton properties in DC that are better in this regard?

Same experience, although as a Gold. Was there twice Aug Sept of this
year. Got room on the executive floor.

Capital Hilton - Disappointing!

I made HH Gold for the first time year. I travel to DC on business a lot, so I was excited to see what benefits I might get at an old-school hotel like the Capital Hilton. I checked in (even flashed my gold card) and got ... nothing. After the clerk handed me my room keys I asked about an upgrade. I was told the Tower was under renovations right now. As I walked away, I turned back and asked about breakfast.

"Oh," the clerk said, "I can give you a coupon if you'd like."

Now, the stay was fine (the breakfast was actually very good), but I didn't feel like I was treated that great.

Anyone else have any issues with the Capital Hilton? Are there better properties in DC for HH Gold members to take advantage of? Thanks!

Try a search for Capital Hilton and you'll get lots of comments. A lot of them similar to yours.

DC is FULL of "important" people, and often short-term hospitality employees. Perhaps if you were a wealthy industrialist or a Senator, you might get some joy, but a HH Gold with no name recognition or pull, well, you have experienced that... Just be pleasantly assertive when the breakfast or due perks don't come through (and research your destination on FT and elsewhere...)

Suite Upgrade at Capital Hilton in DC!

I just got upgraded to a junior suite for a week's stay at the Capital Hilton in DC. I emailed the Director of Rooms, and got an affirmative answer within 24 hours. Man, that will make a week of sightseeing much more comfortable!

Does anyone have an e-mail address for this property?

Thanks

How did you work that one? I am impressed. Maybe I'll try it for NYC this weekend.
Can you give me an idea of what you wrote?

Is this a particularly hard hotel to get an upgrade in? I would have figured as a diamond (as the poster is) it wouldn't be too bad.

I always get upgrades in DC. I get 2 parking spaces, and a beautiful king size foam mattress, a 42" Sony Grand WEGA LCD, and a home theatre.

I call it home
