Those who were upgraded, did you email or fax a request for an upgrade to the executive floor or did you request it upon checkin? We will be at the BA Hilton on an award in April. As HH gold, what's the best way to secure an upgrade? Thanks to all!!!

I've only stayed on revenue stays, but was always upgraded to the Exec floor, as a Diamond. The rules have changed a bit of late, so you might want to email the hotel about an upgrade for a Gold member.

I didn't do anything to make it happen. As you can see to the left, I can't answer as to Golds. And as you can see above, I wasn't going for a suite. (I'd have felt like a BB in a bucket...) But boy did I have a view. My room number was 942 or 943 or something, so if you want the best room short of a suite, you might ask ahead of time for something on that side. BTW, I checked in downstairs, and that's what I got. The receptionists rotate between downstairs and upstairs (and, I think, the business center) and they work off the same computer screen. (Oh, and as you've seen all over this thread, the lounge offerings are very good, so you'll want to ensure access. And I don't believe they'll close it, given the Bs As culture, unless they're in really dire straits.)

I guess the only thing I can add is that it should help to relieve your doubt to see that it's gone Point Stretcher as far as the eye can see. And I was told when this happened all of a sudden Feb 1 that their count was way down and that they'd just lost some upcoming conventions.

So, as I keep saying, for those of us still traveling, it couldn't be better...

Maybe I've already said all these things.

Pointstretcher adjustment?
We'll soon find out if Hilton will make an adjustment in the # of points for our upcoming award stay. We booked our stay several months ago and they deducted full points. This has never happened. Definitely a sign of the times.

If pointstretchers are available now, it should be no problem to cancel the higher point award and get pointstretchers.

It pays to check flyertalk on a regular basis!! I would have never thought to check pointstretcher status. Hilton reissued our award certificates and deposited 18,000 points into HH account. Thank you, flyertalk members!!!

Quote: My search results were blank so I'll throw out a request for info : has anyone visited at the Hilton in Puerto Madero lately? I'd be interested to know if there are easily accessible washrooms on the lobby level and whether the restaurants are comparable in price to the many good eating spots nearby.

Commander Bob
There are easily accessible washrooms, go past the front desk and make a left.

The Hilton has elevated prices for food which are comparable to Puerto Madero restaurants but high for BsAs in general.

If you want to pay moderately high prices and get great value, take a cab and go to Oviedo or Puratierra.

If you want something really, really good...go to Nectarine and take the menu degustacion at about USD100 plus wine. If you want very overpriced food, to to La Bourgogne at Hotel Alvear or to the Four Seasons...similarly priced but not as good.

Any recommendations for a party of three going from the Airport to the Hilton? I am tempted to ask the hotel to arrange a car as my parents are getting older (and more fickle).

My s/o and I spent three nights at this property in late March after starting at the Conrad Punta del Este and stopping over in Colonia del Sacramento. We arrived into BsAs via Buquebus and walked to the hotel from the terminal -- it was probably a ten minute walk. The Hilton is located in Puerto Madero, which looks new and spiffy and has a number of places to eat; we felt very safe in the area at all times.

Upon arrival at the front desk, we were sent to check in on the executive level. Our bags were whisked away and we went up and were checked in by a very helpful and knowledgeable concierge. Upon learning that it was our first time in BsAs, she spent several minutes with us going over maps, interesting sites, and things to do. Over the course of our stay she continued to be very helpful and kind, as did all of the other hotel employees -- most all of whom seemed to speak English quite well.

We had been upgraded to an executive room on the same floor as the executive lounge (there are two executive levels which are kind of separate from the rest of the hotel - not quite part of the large atrium). The lounge had eggs, pancakes (which were rock hard every day, for some reason), meats, cereals, pastries, and fruit at breakfast; at dinner time there were free drinks (beer, wine, champagne, and hard liquor) and a variety of snacks, plus one hot snack each day. The lounge is pretty spacious and has a patio looking out over the pool and across to the Casa Rosada and surrounding buildings:

The room was very spacious and looked great, and the bed was very comfortable. The room has a window which opens up a bit to let in fresh air. The bathroom was quite large; the main area had the bathtub and sink, and then there was a separate shower closet and a separate toilet closet. The bathroom has a universal plug which can accommodate US, UK, and European plus (albeit at Argentine voltage). The bedroom has a small walk-in closet with a lot of shelves and storage space, and a desk with every accessory you would need - I don't really have any good pictures of the room but this should give an idea:

We saw a couple of United crews wandering through the lobby, and there is an AA ticketing desk in the lobby for anyone who might need it. There was a large number of restaurants nearby which we could walk to at night - most places opened for dinner around 8. There were also cabs available at all times and they were pretty cheap. We walked all over the city with our hotel as a base, though I don't think it is the single most pedestrian-friendly city I've been in due to the presence of a number of large roads running around. The nearest Metro station is maybe a 10 or 15 minute walk away.

Overall, I have nothing but good things to say about this hotel, and it joins the Conrad Tokyo and possibly the Hilton Odawara as being one of my very favorite Hilton properties worldwide.

So, I just came back from staying here for a couple of days and did a search, only to find that I was the OP on this thread nearly nine years ago!

This is the first time I've stayed here (stayed a couple of times previously at the Sheraton). I loved the hotel, the health club and the great rooftop pool with views of the city and the Casa Rosada!

I'm home and I'm ready to go back! ^
