I didn't do anything to make it happen. As you can see to the left, I can't answer as to Golds. And as you can see above, I wasn't going for a suite. (I'd have felt like a BB in a bucket...) But boy did I have a view. My room number was 942 or 943 or something, so if you want the best room short of a suite, you might ask ahead of time for something on that side. BTW, I checked in downstairs, and that's what I got. The receptionists rotate between downstairs and upstairs (and, I think, the business center) and they work off the same computer screen. (Oh, and as you've seen all over this thread, the lounge offerings are very good, so you'll want to ensure access. And I don't believe they'll close it, given the Bs As culture, unless they're in really dire straits.)
I guess the only thing I can add is that it should help to relieve your doubt to see that it's gone Point Stretcher as far as the eye can see. And I was told when this happened all of a sudden Feb 1 that their count was way down and that they'd just lost some upcoming conventions.
So, as I keep saying, for those of us still traveling, it couldn't be better...
