Anyone know if a resort fee is charged? (And if so, how is it computed?)
My award reservation confirmation says the following boilerplate:
A 14% daily resort charge will be added to your rate and includes: WiFi, Fitness Center, local & 800 calls, inflatable pool toys, designated beach area with beach towels, chairs and umbrellas. This fee is in addition to the rate quoted and is not a government imposed charge.

Wow! This thread is oooold.
Anyone stay at this property (8000 Tartak Street, Carolina - San Juan) recently? I am planning to book a week using points for two adults and two kids. Appreciate any feedback from fellow FT members.
Edit: Oops, didn't see the airport location before posting this question. Anyhow, feedbacks are welcome.

Stayed here one night precruise last month.
Short walk to a nice beach.
pool area very nice with a pool bar.
Room was little dated, but very comfy bed.
Travelling with my daughter and her boyfriend so the two rooms was very nice!!
Didnt make it to breakfast, ended too early! 9:30 i think.
Would stay again.
very good use of points.

Wow, the memories. They have a very AP-gameable casino back in the day.

The ES in Aruba is labeled a Resort. But, lol, both the SJ ES and the Aruba one are NOT beachfront but one is a resort and one isnt. What a total random crapshoot.

I dont think Hilton corporate understands the distinction either, its just totally random what they deem a 'resort'.
