Difference between Waldorf and Conrad

Hello,

As I never stayed at Waldorf Astoria before, I'm wondering if the price difference is worth over staying at Conrad.
We did stayed at Conrad couple of times and we loved it. We will have 6 night stay at BKK and want to split it. 3 nights at (no chain 5 star hotel) and 3 nights at one of the Hilton properties. What is the real difference between the two brands? I can think of the lack of the lounge at Waldorf. The price difference is around $100 a night. Is it worth it to stay at Waldorf over Conrad at BKK?

Thanks

Specifically in BKK the WA is significantly better than the Conrad. In the WA breakfast is amazing, location is also better.
In my opinion the difference is worth 100$

Just how amazing do you want/need your breakfast to be? I have had many stays at the Conrad Bangkok and always found the breakfast to be excellent. Sure the WA will be a little bit more chique (I avoid WA's for other reasons but I have seen the reviews and videos) or you may prefer the location (but if that really is your thing then you need to be looking down by the river). I prefer to spend that $100 (x 3) on other things than an even more indulgent breakfast.

Appreciate the comments. If there is no lounge in WA I'm wondering what do they provide extra to make it worthwhile staying there. If the difference is just the breakfast, that's not enough to give up happy hour in Conrad

My thoughts too. I am a lounge tiger and do not apologise for it, it is a pleasant part of my travels. The "difference" is in part the level of "luxury" they offer but in my opinion luxury has a comfort/price/value level. For example I prefer to eat out in an excellent restaurant where everything is good, tasty, good service, and also with an acceptable price, as opposed to chasing Michelin-starred addresses. This goes for my hotel choices too.

Because its the WA

Some people will see the 'status' associated with a WA stay as being worth the extra cost
(I accept the hard product at a WA will generally be better than Conrad)

Personally I view Conrad as more comfortable luxury (and the Conrad marketing motto for a while was "The Luxury of Being Yourself") vs Waldorf which is typically far stuffier, but nicer hard product et al. Conrad is my fave Hilton brand in terms of being the sweet spot for me in terms of a nice stay and and happy that more of them have been popping up here in the States.

I agree with this 100%. Conrad is my favourite brand by far. It's the overall mix of customer service, standards in the rooms, food, and generally (at least outside the US) there is a full and generous executive lounge. I too am a huge fan of the EL as part of the Conrad (or higher-end Hilton (again especially in Asia)) experience and make plentiful use of it during each of my stays. I have stayed at WA once or twice but usually the price point is too high for me and the missing EL makes the decision easy. Back in my corporate days neither Conrad nor WA were allowed under travel policy as they were seen as luxury rather than business standard.

Occasionally in the past, I have been to a super-luxury hotel in London for breakfast while staying in a budget hotel and paying for the meal. These experiences have been wonderful.

Specifically in BKK I actually would be tempted to try the WA because of the extremely positive reviews on here. But there are three properties with an EL in the city too...
