Website wonky?

Trying to book a couple nights at a Hampton just now. Select room, get to final screen before booking, and get this message

Last step: Connecting to your bank to verify your card and complete your booking.

I'm using my stored payment method, like usual. Website stalls out booking doesnt happen?

Use the app, never the website. That new step is still there but I’ve found that it completes the booking consistently.

Yes so the resi DID go thru on the app, but not after taking the same final booking step the website wanted to take.

What is Hilton doing with this 'bank verification stuff'? At least if you do that, make it so you can still put reservations thru, lol. The website just stalls out now, at that final step.
This has to be a fairly recent change?

Yes, this has happened to me too. I was forced to phone Hilton to make the reservation.

I think it's new. I was rebooking my reservation every night as the price kept dropping by a dollar or two (it's a 2 month stay) and had to do this every single time, with no deposit or charge on the card. Ironically, though, when I tried my stored Hilton Amex card, it thought it was fraud and I had to call in to unfreeze. It's now on my AA card. But yes, every darned time, and seems to have started just recently. Maddening for no deposits especially.

I've never had an issue with the bank verification on the website. Only suggestion I have is make sure your pop up blocker isn't stopping that page from opening.

Yep. Or certainly on the app. Card payments do not always complete.

Also noticed that if you rebook at a lower rate, the rate stays the same.

So you need to switch to another room type and back again. Always a risk of the base room selling out.

Agree that this is a problem with app / website but why bother doing this? I just make a duplicate booking at the lower rate and cancel the one I no longer need. Also, it doesnt make it any more acceptable but I find the same problem with other chains too.
