Six Travelers thanks for the head's up! Just rebooked a stay using the 3rd night free promo. I guess I can also stack the $200 FHR pre-paid hotel night credit... and then the $275 + $100 property credit stacks (crazy!) + I have an Aspire $250 property credit I guess I can also use? All these property credits should come in handy for food & drink.

Did you go off property at all into town during your stay in August for meals and such?

Did you accept an upgrade to a higher floor or stick with the ground floor/bigger plunge pool situation talked about up thread?

How many nights did you end up doing? I'm thinking of doing the 3rd night free plus adding a night on points or using Aspire free night cert for a fourth.

Thanks!

I'm so glad it was helpful. Crazy about all of those stackable credits. YMMV on the $100 in addition to the $275, but fingers crossed! If you have an Aspire credit to use, definitely make use of it!

We booked a partial ocean view room and got upgraded to the full ocean view on the third floor. The larger plunge pool seems nice, but if you take a look at my pics upthread, it is basically in the foliage. There are so many critters that I just don't think I'd enjoy that. Perhaps you can ask to see both room options?

We did three nights and it was perfect for us, but we also arrived before noon on the first day!. We didn't go offsite this trip at all, but we love the Tulum area- there are so many archaelogical sites to explore, it's the mecca of cenotes, etc. Tim and Fin on YouTube did a good series on the Mayan Riviera area. Depends on the type of vacation you want to have, but ChickenItza is a great day trip, Coba or Tulum sites. Akumal is a fun village to explore, swimming with sea turtles, renting golf carts, and they have a great snorkeling inlet that people compare to Xelha (the name escapes me). Cenotes galore. Xcaret or Xelha if you're looking for a natural waterpark experience. Xelha is actually very, very close, so imagine it would be a fairly cheap taxi ride. I thought the dining on site was amazing, so no need to leave in search of something else. If you think you might explore the area on your own, I recommend ordering a MapChick map, which lays out things to do, all the cenotes, restaurant recommendations, etc.

madderlake Not sure when you are going, but there is an Amex offer for $100 off $500. Ideally you'll be able to load this offer to your Aspire from the generic Amex offers page here.

Waldorf Astoria, Conrad & LXR - Select Global

  • Spend $500 or more, get $100 back
Valid until 12/31/2022
Get a one-time $100 statement credit by using your enrolled eligible Card to spend a minimum of $500 USD in one or more purchases on room rate and room charges, when you pay for your stay at participating Hilton properties from 9/19/2022 to 12/31/2022. Book direct with Hilton. See terms.

Yes, thank you! I have that offer loaded on to my Platinum Card (didn't appear on my Surpass) so plan to stack that as well. At this point I'm wondering if all my credits will be more than my spend lol. Since I had to pre-pay the 3rd night free Amex FHR res (to get the $200 credit) and I added a 4th night on points, the only spend I'll likely do at the hotel is food and beverage which I'm sure will be expensive anyway. I'm planning to go after Thanksgiving and will definitely report back to this thread with what credits applied, etc.

really appreciate the reviews, pics, and comments so far... super helpful! thank you, especially six travelers and kryten22uk

we're doing 9 night total; i just saw the upgraded FHR offer from $150 -> $275 credit and rebooked our 3 paid FHR nights. if it stacks on the $100 thats great, if not, we still come out $25 ahead. add the amex offer for $100 off, the $200 plat credit, and the aspire $250 credit and it's $925 in credits plus the FHR free night for the paid nights during our stay lol. then used the aspire free night for night 4, and the rest points with 5th night free. yay for value

excited for the trip!

I love a good deal but good stacking of deals is even sweeter. You'll be incredibly rested after 9 days! Do get out and about and enjoy the area. Looking forward to your report back.

Are hotel guests able to use the spa facilities (sauna, steam, etc.) without a treatment booking?

Yes, but not for free. It costs 100USD. A rip off of course, but then it ensures that the place is empty and peaceful for those who have paid for a treatment.

They will give you a tour of the facilities which is interesting. I did that to save face after rocking up thinking it was 100Mexican dollars 😀

Per use, or access for the duration of your stay?

Has anyone who stayed at the Conrad paid the day rate at the Hilton to try the all-inclusive restaurants there?

And what if you have friends staying at the Hilton - do they "police" it if someone comes over e.g. to join you at the pool of the Conrad?

Did you finish your trip? How was your experience?

I was wondering if you were able to stack $100 off $500 offer with fhr? FHR requires you to book hotel from Amex travel however $100 off $500 offer needs to book directly from Hilton.

haven’t gone on the trip yet - will let you know!

I assume they will stack for us since our stay is split into one FHR res and two Hilton direct res. regardless, every time I’ve used an Amex hotel offer as long as I put the qualifying amount on the appropriate card it has come through (ymmv obv).

I’ve wondered the same thing. Going over Christmas, but I’ve read it’s $150/day/person for the Hilton day pass. Maybe Conrad guests get a discount, but I haven’t seen anyone report that they do. At that rate, I’ll pass. Hopefully, the two of us can eat & drink for $300/day at the Conrad considering we will get the diamond/gold breakfast f&b credit.

Is it easy to get taxi from the hotel to go to Tulum central/ruins? I have read negative things about the taxi situation in Tulum. Any info/tips much appreciated!

We were there two weeks ago. You saw some people, but not very many, coming or going by taxi. To be fair, the hotel seemed quite empty when we were there, so that likely played a part. The hotel is definitely not in Tulum (saying it's in Akumal would be more accurate but Akumal is also a 6-7 minute drive), and while the drive is easy it would be a fair distance in a taxi. You'd probably have to make arrangements to have one come out there, no idea what the cost would be. When we were checking out a guest next to us was having a very stressful time because they had booked a taxi to the airport and it hadn't shown up. The hotel offered to call a taxi right away, but for that you're probably looking at a 30 minute wait.
Have you considered renting a car? We did and it made everything much easier, including going to some dinners in Akumal when we didn't eat at the Conrad.
