Hilton clocks are so often set to the wrong time!

I have had numerous instances where the clocks are at the wrong time recently. Have stayed at the Westchester Hilton, New York several times and every time the clock has been at the wrong time. The first time the clock was exactly 12 hours off and I didn't notice so the alarm did not happen when I expected it and I ended up not waking in time and was late for a really important meeting. I've stayed there twice since then and the clocks were off by random but significant times. Same thing last night at the Hilton, Houston North. Clock was off by close to 30 minutes. Same as the clock at the HGI in Baltimore a couple of days ago but it also had this weird thing where the clock had a clamp on the wire where it couldn't be turned towards the bed so you couldn't see it during the night. I don't want to have to find my iPhone in the middle of the night to know what time it is. Anybody else having these issues?

There used to be 3 things that I would do when arriving in a hotel room but now only 2.

1. Check the clock. Some joker may have set it 12 hours wrong or set the alarm to ring at 3 am.
2. Check under the bed for money. Once I found a quarter. Another time, I found sanitary napkins unopened.

3. (no longer) Do as a Flyertalk thread said, to check behind the drawers for porn. However, now few people read magazines anymore.

I've been doing this for about 40 years and I have to admit I usually forget to do any of these suggestions. I have found money on the floor but it usually ends up being my own money that's fallen out of my pockets.

Funny - one of the first things I often do when settling into a hotel room is unplug the clock(s).

1) My phone is my alarm.
2) It is much less likely have the incorrect time.
3) It is not going to go off at random or break into some crappy radio station because the previous guest set it.
4) It is not going to fill the room with light pollution (one my biggest hotel pet peeves is clock radios that have display brightness of the bat signal)

I've been noticing this increasingly over the past couple of years

i would suggest using your phone as an alarm and arrange a wake up call with reception as a back up

I guess I would ask why you're relying on an alarm that you don't even know works for a really important meeting?

I always check the clock for accuracy, and if not set correctly, I ask the front desk to have it corrected. Haven't had a problem yet.

I thought the thread headline was about Honors "status-clock" but this thread turned out much more hilarious than I thought

I never used to check the advice nr 2 but next time I might do it just for fun. Who knows if I will find there a human being

I know many people who set the clock ahead so that they won't hit the snooze button. I also think people rely less on the clock now that they have phones. Plus, I don't think housekeeping runs around resetting the clocks to either daylight savings or standard time anymore.

I am usually afraid to look under the bed. I still always look if there is a drawer in the bedside table. In the pre-personal electronics day, I used to put any paperbacks I finished into the nightstand drawer. Several people did that, and I would often find a good book in there when I was placing my finished book in there. Out of habit, I still look. Its been years since I've found a book.

One of the things that drive me crazy is the disappearing alarm clock radios. I want to wake up with news and it is increasingly hard to find these radio alarm clocks at Hilton properties. These cube clocks' time is very hard to set - you have to open up the panel...

I try not to touch and look at things unnecessarily as I might feel the room is dirty if I know too much.

Huh, am I the only one wondering why you don't just look at your watch to see what time it is if you wake up in the middle of the night? You know, that piece of jewelery you wear on your wrist that has numbers on the front of it.

As for an alarm, well, I don't have that problem. I'm not a member of the working class, I'm in the leisure class and not setting alarms is one of the differences between the two.

If the clock is not set right, I call housekeeping/engineering to avoid high blood pressure.......

I use rather effective ear plugs and I don't always hear my phone alarm. It's always set too but I want the louder volume of the clock.

Unfortunately, that piece of jewelry disappeared from my wrist about 10 years ago.
