"Double Points" means the Member will receive a bonus equal to the number of Base Points earned during a stay and "Triple Points" means the Member will receive a bonus double the number of Base Points earned during a stay. Bonus Points earned on Base Points do not count toward Elite tier qualification.

Looks like you're all set.

This is right.
Getting triple points bonus includes the original base.
It is not intended to be triple points extras.

Look at this way. With no promo, you're earning single points (1x). With this promo, you're earning triple points (3x). The difference between the two is 2x, and thus the promo of 2x is added to the 1x of the base points to get a 3x total.

If the promo line had said 3x, everyone would be talking about a 4x total, and that's certainly not happening!

If I booked my reservation with the Earn 2x Points rate, how many x points would I earn on my stay if I am Silver, with the new promo?

If points & points:
base rate = pretax rate *10
(base rate * 3) + (0.5 * base rate) + (0.15 * base rate for silver) + if applicable: + 500 (mobile app bonus) + 500 (H-Amex bonus)

Not getting triple points

Lauren ,

i am not sure how this calculates to triple points. I called twice and Hilton told me it is right. I got double point plus my normal 2 - 50% Diamond bonuses

Hi Mreesept,

Chiming in here too - for this promotion you would earn “Double Points” which is the Base plus equal amount in Bonus Points; if you're a Diamond member, “Triple Points” which is the Base plus 2x that in Bonus. So one has to do the math of adding up the Get More bonus points to the Base points and diving that by the Base points only, and if that results in 3, then it was triple points that were earned, while if that results in 2, it was double points that were earned. (1904+952)/952 = 3, so that was an example of triple points.

I'm no math genius but it's easy to see 1904 is twice 952 (even just rounding)...so you got your base (1) and twice your base (1 + 1 more) to get your triple points.

Another way to think about it...If your two numbers (base and bonus) are exactly the same (both 952), then you know you only got double points.

What happens if your planned 2 week stay ends on 1st of September - will I still get the points, or must it end of 31 August?

If the latter is the case, I'll amend my booking....

Very happy with this promotion! As a Diamond, I earned just under 29,000 points for a 3-night stay at a DoubleTree last week, before considering what I'll earn for charging it on a Hilton Honors CC.
