Problems Using "Old" Reward Certificates?

I had a few points available as Hilton phased out the old point system, and had some certificates issued planning to use them during their year of validity (one night here, one night there).

Just got off the phone with Hilton and was told the certificates can be redeposited, but cannot be applied to a new reservation (they would be honored if they were tied to an existing reservation made before the point system change.

Any comments?

You were given an incorrect information. Adam Burke posted on FT the official answer - as long as you have a cert in hand, it will be valid for either existing, or a new reservation for a full year since the date of issue, provided that the property you want to stay at was eligible for the type of cert you want to use prior to the change.

Make sure you go to the second page of that thread and see Adam's own posts. They are very clear.

Here-I-Go,
Instead of going through all the trouble of waiting for a reply to your faxed documents, just call back and speak to someone else. I recently used a GLON that was issued before the cut off for a property that is now category 6 (requires GLONP now). I made the reservation after the point changes with no problem.

The URL (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum57/HTML/007351.html) seems to be defunct. Can anyone furnish a (working) pointer?

Thanks so much,
Jon
