Just a SWAG, but odd amounts for rewards have been reported here. Perhaps related?

Just did a random search as well - 3 nts in middle of June and got this :

Dates Points Per Night

Jun 10 Fri — Jun 13 Mon From 96,484 points
Jun 11 Sat — Jun 14 Tue From 96,484 points
Jun 12 Sun — Jun 15 Wed From 96,484 points
Jun 13 Mon — Jun 16 Thu From 113,119 points
Jun 14 Tue — Jun 17 Fri From 113,119 points
Jun 15 Wed — Jun 18 Sat From 119,773 points
Jun 16 Thu — Jun 19 Sun From 119,773 points
Jun 17 Fri — Jun 20 Mon From 119,773 points
Jun 18 Sat — Jun 21 Tue From 96,484 points
Jun 19 Sun — Jun 22 Wed From 119,773 points
Jun 20 Mon — Jun 23 Thu From 119,773 points
Jun 21 Tue — Jun 24 Fri No rooms available
Jun 22 Wed — Jun 25 Sat From 119,773 points
Jun 23 Thu — Jun 26 Sun From 119,773 points

As xooz says there appears to be no standard reward availability. Above points are per night, not per stay. The change to the (US) website irks as well, haven't tried the UK one.

I noticed this at the same property. Is the Diamond force still available? I couldn't find a standard room at any of the EU Hiltons I have searched recently despite the consolidators, Expedia etc. having plenty of inventory available for standard rooms.

This is too confusing... I just pulled a random date (Sept. 19 - Sept. 20, 2011), it shows the "Deluxe Plus" room with 45627 points (or 178 Euro). Sounds this hotel is Category 6.5.

It seems to be a glitch somewhere...

Take Sept. 18 - Sept. 19 as an example, it has Standard Room available for 50000 points (157 Euro) but the Deluxe Plus room (Premium room) is for 45627 points (178 Euro).

Another random date Dec. 2 - Dec. 3, it has Standard Room available for 50000 points (119 Euro) but the Deluxe Plus room (Premium room) is for whopping 35171 points (140 Euro).

I did a quick search for hotels in Vegas today. Before signing in, the normal (and ridiculously high) point values appear (such as 25000 per night at a Hampton Inn). After signing in (currently Silver) all point values dropped, some quite significantly.

It appears to be a 25% reduction.

and people talk about the airlines. the longest overdue customer revolt is against the rip-off lodging industry. you need tons and tons of points even for down market brands on the side of the road. if it wasn't for the fact that people's employers pay the exorbitant rates and therefore shrug when these rates are being sought, what ordinary person would be unwise enough to value the ratio of points you get from these rip off stays. i've gotten great rewards from the airlines, but am never tempted to pay a penny to stay to get "reward points."

I am waiting for the hotels just to go to a flat rate, A point equals x, then go against the room rate. Overall I think it would be easier. Look at some of the high end hotels, sure sometimes 50k points is fair, but for a $199 a night that is crazy.

I'll consider that statement at the Hilton Arc de Triomphe this Bastille Day (day after Lady JDiver's birthday, our main reason for going,) staying on an AXON award. €1,940 / $ 2,746.85 USD for the stay if I paid, or 145,000 HHonors points, many of those points made on ~ USD$100 stays earning 29 points per dollar spent (a tad more with some bonuses out there). I also get free breakfast and Lounge access for snacks for two and drinks, and quite decent chance of upgrade to King Executive gratis. I personally think that's pretty decent, not revolting at all, n'est-ce pas? ;)

Before I start calling about a major devaluation, I'd wait and see if this is not a web glitch - and note, Malta in summer is pretty crowded, as is the Hilton from some previous posts here. Not saying some changes might not make me change strategies ahead, but... (and I hope troyintn's possibility is not in the running .)

It isn't just Malta. Every Hilton property I have checked recently has NO standard rooms available in the month of July, even places like Dubai where July is not a terribly good month to travel. However standard rooms at all these properties can be found via third party sites. To me it is starting to look like a cynical gaming of the system by the properties. For the record I have looked at Rome Cav, Sorrento, Malta, Dubai Jumeriah etc. Whilst I know it is peak season it is a little suspect.

Try the Le Meredien St Juliens (SPG).

Cash and points a great value at $45+2800 points. I am staying there 4 nights in July. I considered the Hilton (which is lovely) but you are right, so not wort the points.

Upcoming devaluation?

Stumbled across this tonight while looking at some hotel stays in London.

http://www1.hilton.com/en_US/hi/hote...tyhocn=LHRBLHI

Listed as a Category 8

Now, I've never looked at properties in that area before so maybe that is how they do it over there?
