Gold VIP upgrade from Towers room?

Hi,

Got a newbie Hilton question for y'all.

I'm a new Gold VIP and I've got a confirmed reservation soon for a Towers room at the Chicago Hilton. The rules state that as a Gold VIP I'll be upgraded to a Towers room on check-in if available.

Q #1: Since I've already got a Towers room, I was just wondering if they would potentially upgrade me to a suite?

Q #2: It appears from the rules that room upgrade scenarios are identical for Gold and Diamond VIPs (i.e. regular room -> Towers or Exec. room, generally). Now, I'm assuming that Diamonds get priority, but in practice do Diamonds regularly get upgraded to suites, a la Starwood? Just wondering if it's really worth my while to shoot for Diamond this year.

Thanks.
