Honors Recourse When Miles Go to Wrong Program?

About a week before several recent stays, I updated my preferred airline partner online. I also spent about half an hour on the phone with an agent at the HHonors Diamond line, who laboriously reprogrammed several reservations with the new airline partner. She assured me this had been accomplished, so I saw no need to make new reservations. This "reprogramming" also happened a week before the stays.

Despite these dual steps, several stays credited to the wrong airline partner. Now HHonors says they can't do anything because miles were transferred to the original partner. I find this completely unsatisfactory, especially coming on the heels of the fiasco with the Budget 5K bonus.

Any suggestions on how to proceed with HHonors? In my opinion, they can ask the original partner to return or void the miles, but if they're unsuccessful, they must still award base and bonus miles to my account with the replacement partner.

I know how to avoid the situation, but can't assist on how to fix once broke.

To avoid this you need to ensure on check out that the airline program is on the folio -adjust if nesessary. (If the miles still go to the wrong program, you have the folio to prove the mistake.)

Give it up...have been through this and you won't get anywhere, so don't stress yourself. Now you know what to do in the future.

I successfully got Hhonors to credit the correct airline partner. The miles were originally credited to VA and later changed to BMI. The e-folio clearly stated BMI as the double dip partner airline.

I have the same issue. Had 5 reservation booked, changed Airline preference to VA from AA in March. Every single one of my Q2 was wrongly credited to AA. I was able to correct all but one. The trick is to watch your point/mile posting a day or two after checking out. Call ASAP when the wrong airline is posted, they should be able to reverse it out. As long as you call before they sending it off to airlines. There is about 24-48 hours window,

I switched from Southwest to Delta earlier in the year and had the same problem. It didn't switch any of my existing reservations and didn't find out until I looked for the miles in my Delta account the next week and then looked at my folio and saw WN was the partner. I called the diamond desk and they switched over the confirmation numbers I gave them.

Look at your confirms online to see who the partner is if the diamond desk didn't send you a revised confirm. If you do an online check in, you can switch the partner there as well if it is wrong or ask at checkin and the front desk clerk can change it.
