hertz award or FF miles

Meaningful Hertz awards take forever to save up for, at least if you rent like me (mostly on the weekends). If your rentals are more high value (i.e. week long or business-related), then maybe you'll rack up Hertz points much faster.

Why would we search when we know you'll swoop in and do it for us? 
Don't write off Hertz #1 Awards: they just reduced some of the awards. 500 points = 1 day at the low end. 5000 points = 1 week Prestige at the high end. Used correctly, ZE1 points yield 8-10 cents each. Pretty good return. It helps if you actually have a use for 1-day standalone rentals where your favorite CDP/PC combo probably doesn't help much. For those, the 500 points is a great bargain.
For short, cheap rentals, you can earn 500 Marriott Rewards points with no FF tax. I don't pay close attention to WN, but some here would say that earning those credits on short rentals (if you need 'em) is a good option.
I'm had 100% success getting MR points and Hertz ZE1 points to post. I have had less-than-stellar success getting air miles to post.

Ok, now we're talking. When it was something like 40,000 or such, I could frellin buy the vehicle for that at one point per dollar.

With the ZE1 point bonuses that come up periodically, it's not too difficult to qualify for those awards, rather than paying a few bucks every time for FF miles. If it was Starwood points, then it might be a different argument from my perspective.
