Upgrade Algorithm

Hi All,

I'm a denizen of the SkyMiles board and haven't had many questions or much insight regarding car rentals, but I have a question and hope you'll be kind enough to help.

I'm #1 Club Gold and have a full size reserved for pickup next weekend at MSY. Full sizes at DCA have always been a Taurus, and I assume it's not much different at MSY. I hate the Taurus. Not as much as the Grand Marquis, which is what i'm afraid I'll get since I included an upgrade coupon (PC 182906) on my reservation. So I guess my question is two fold. Any chance of not getting a Grand Marquis if I am upgraded, and if not, any chance of getting a Camry or anything other than a Taurus if I remove the upgrade coupon?

Thanks,

M

Of course it depends on what inventory your location has. I have been getting Lumina LS YF's from my local edition (and even SEA) which I like much more then the Taurus.

I'd leave the upgrade coupon in there, as it might give you a leg up on getting a YF car (like the Camry) without paying the usual $15 extra they ask. Also, you might get lucky and snag a YG like the Toyota Avalon LS.

I'm a relatively new Gold member, but I recently had a preference for foreign cars added to my profile and in the two rentals I've had since, have ended up in a Camry both times.

YMMV.

Where can you select a preference for foreign cars in the "My Profile" section of the Hertz #1 Club Gold? I looked on the Vehicle Preferences tab, and this was not one of the options. Or did you do this by phone?

I've done this over email to Hertz and it worked.
