return to different location, unexpectedly
Hey folks,
I'm sure this has been asked tons, but my search skills must be failing me.
How does Hertz respond if you unexpectedly return a car to different location?
EG: rent at Airport A and plan to return to Airport A but your plans changed and you have to suddenly drop it off at City Location B (3 hours away).

In my experience, when you return the car, the Hertz system will recalculate your rate and apply a one-way charge unless the CDP on your reservation has a fee waiver in it.

And to answer the inevitable next question of how much that might be... It could be anywhere from $0 to $250 to $1,000+. You literally have no idea, and you are at their mercy if you just return to a different location without informing them first. There is no Undo Return button.

You can, however, call Hertz and say "hey, I'd like to change my return from DFW to IAH, still returning the same day as planned. how much will that run me?"
And then you can either have them modify your contract over the phone and lock in the quoted price, or just say "nevermind, I'll figure something else out".
