I haven't looked back through this whole thread ...
but in Australia, if you book online AND pay in advance - you are NOT entitled to the triple points bonus. In fact, I was told at the Counter, you are not entitled to ANY points, if you pre-pay !!
Is this what happens in the US ?
I did 'jump up and down' ( as we say in OZ ), and got my triple points anyway ( not to the guy at Counter, but later on phone ... or, was it my FB comment that got them to post the points?)
