Yeah, it's called "Gold Choice" -- when you book midsize or higher you can choose any of the vehicles in the Gold Choice area (there will be signs); some specialty vehicles will say how much more they cost per day. You need to be a Hertz Gold member to take advantage of this. More info here.

Otherwise it is very nice to drive. Don't know if they have Diesels in the US, but these can squeeze out the hell of a mpg while having lots of torque!
Oh, and the opening and closing of the hardtop is an eye-catcher (even from the inside, a fascinating mechanism). It even has a moonroof position, I think.

The VW Eos looks pretty cool to me. Before I did my post-high school road trip (have any of you put 15k miles on a car in 5 weeks? We did!) my friend (whose car we would be using) really wanted an Eos. It was back when the hardtop convertible was a new and exciting concept. But he got a Civic coupe instead (and it worked out alright). How does the Eos compare with the Chrysler 200 convertible?

Hey guys just at my hle and booked premium received volvo s60. Leather, sat, sunroof no nav.is this an upgrade? Asked for convertible and al they had was a vw. Brand new, 1k miles. Class is YI, never seen this what class is this? Drives amazing

I wonder if perhaps they're trying to condense the Premium and Luxury category into one family; it would make sense as they phase out the Panther platform, and would allow them to make the CTS and BMW (and your S60) exclusively Prestige Collection cars (so then G/H/I would be the Buick Regal, LaCrosse, Nissan Maxima, Chrysler 300, and Lincoln MKZ). This is just some speculation... I'll probably be wrong and Malibus will be the next PCAR

Thank you!! ^^ I've been really wondering what they classified this as. If you recall, "H" is technically "Premier Premium" (so YH would be "Specialty Premier Premium"), and "I" is officially "Luxury". Thus, "YI" would be "Specialty Luxury". (Key difference between YX and X is that YX basically means you cannot reserve that specific class, and can only be placed in it on the day of rental.) Notice how most Luxury cars (Cadillacs and Lincolns, but also the BMW 328i) are Y or YH -- but Maximas and LaCrosses (Premiums) have also been rented as YHs as well. What's interesting is that Premium is G. So depending on how you look at it, you got anything from a double- to a quadruple-upgrade :e:

Haha, i just drove this down to the beach and its extremely nice very responsive. Looks very clean, excellent on fuel. They offered me so many cars before i took this. Hard top mustang, a tahoe, a passat(is it the cc? Would have took that but not sure), maxima. They wanted to give me the camaro ss or mustang gt but both were out. This is the first volvo ive driven and im very impressed. Oh and they offered town car hahaha. For 159 allin for a week, what a steal. She did mention you can book as prestige, and that would have been 600. Too bad im only driving for 4 days(weekly rate was cheaper lol)

drove an Altima around Philadelphia this past weekend. Reserved as F, was offered a Camry or Altima (Avenger and Impalas had satellite radio and cost more). The key fob did say YF for the Altima.

Hi all!
Going back to Miami with the family this year. Renting in LCAR class.
Earlier trips I have had the DTS, STS and Town Car and they have all been just fine for us.
Read that they have all gone out´of production tho. Any guesses what LCAR will be in MIA?
Also read in this thread that MKZ is in class LCAR. Its seems a bit small to me?
Do Hertz still rent out DTS and such and if so, will there be like trillion miles on them?

I think Hertz still has plenty of Town Cars. They wanted to put me in one in DTW. However I was not able to book that class, it showed as booked out no matter what date I put in. When I was in CVG last September they told me they have received that week a bunch of brand new town cars. I would expect a Town Car. But please report back what you actually got.
