Glad to see that they have a Taurus and it's only a F! I think I read somewhere that another company is calling it a premium

As for the main list, I had been compiling a list of my own for a while and I'm going through a bunch of threads (this one, ride reports, others) and I did some research too, I have a pretty comprehensive list coming along. Hertz has a LOT more variety than meets the eye (in both the sheer number of models they have, and how they try to classify each model ). If I ever finish it I'll post it here.

Arrow US fleet list for Hertz -- What car might you get?

GW et. al., it seems the wikipost format is ideal for a thread like this. I hope you agree, and I'm open to feedback. More here.

Also most of the FCAR's you mentioned (Ford Taurus, Honda Accord, Toyota Venza etc.) are very rarely seen in most Hertz lots and very few had luck to receive them on a Full-size reservation.

+1 ^

I have also received an Avenger for an F reservation (with satellite) in ATL, as confirmed on both the key tag and final receipt. PM me if you would like to verify this, but going forward a D reservation should not expect to get an Avenger unless upgraded.

+2 ^^

I usually reserve F class cars and rent from Hertz 2-3 times per week. I have only seen one Accord (at a N. Atlanta HLE), have not seen a Taurus since the "Ford 500" days, and have never seen a Venza on any Hertz lot.

IME (as a regular renter from the same locations, currently 5* and soon to be PC), an F reservation will get you roughly the following odds: 35% Camry, 30% Altima, 25% Malibu, 10% other.

Adding satellite will take Altimas out of the equation (none have sat). I'm not sure about Camrys because I have those excluded in my profile. (If you dislike a car, let them know at the gold counter and they'll put it in your profile.)

I rented a 2012 Taurus from ATL this weekend and saw two others - one in the garage near mine and one with the Hertz bar code at my hotel. Prior to that I had not seen one on any lot in the ~2 years I have been renting regularly.

That sucks!!! I've updated the list to reflect this. Also the other cars you mentioned that are less-commonly seen, I included just because they are (supposedly/still) out there. Tauruses are new additions to the fleet as thewayofthefuture mentioned.

Also, anyone know how long ago they switched the IFAR label from the Escape to the Rav4? I noticed it when I made the list but that has to be pretty recent. I remember at one point in time it said Escape but had a picture of the Toyota.

Made a reservation for a weekend standard 2 door, for some reason it was $2 cheaper to upgrade to a full size... Anyone else experience this?

Reading about the Avenger makes me wonder if I should just stick with Standard, had some good luck there with brand new vehicles...

The Volvo S60 is now in the fleet, but I'm not sure of the class.

I've had that happen to me too, sometimes you just get lucky. I've never been given a standard size car, I've always been upgraded (once to an Escape, the other time to a Crown Vic).

I saw an Avenger (two of them actually) on the highway today, they're definitely smaller than other full-size cars but if you don't need the space it doesn't look that bad. I'd stick with a FCAR especially if it's cheaper. If anything you can always ask to downgrade at the desk.

Good to know; I added it to the list (just assuming for now it's prestige collection). I saw a brand new S60 on the highway today too, that car looks NICE!

got a Volkswagen Eos at TPA. Key Tag says "Class: U", it's a convertible with a Hard-top, Leather, Sirius, Bluetooth connection, Touchscreen for Radio but no SATNAV. It's a nice car but not as flashy as a Mustang convertible.

I picked up a Mitsubishi Galant today with YC on the tag. It's a 2011 with 32k miles, so perhaps this car has since crept up to D and the list is still correct.

Watch out if you feel the Altima 2 door is too small - it seems they are getting quite a few around Philly from what I've seen at the airport and HLEs.

The Altima I got at PIT this weekend is still in the system as YF according to my online receipt (and its key tag). I reserved F. It was clean and drove fine, but it's still a basic Altima which is kind of silly to be YF. I have to say I do get easily used to the keyless proximity setup complete with the buttons on the door, etc. I'm guessing it's standard or very common on Altimas because the few I've had all had this.

Had to make sure I didn't walk away with the key in my pocket on return though.
