Combining two consecutive reservations? - different renters
So my gf and I both received (assuming targeted) emails stating:
We are planning a 2-day weekend trip in 2 weeks. We are thinking of making one reservation for one person for day 1 and making another reservation for the other person for day 2 to take advantage of the offer. Does anyone have experience with Hertz agents joining two consecutive reservations by different renters so that we won't have to stop by in after day 1? Or is this best answered by calling the location? Its a airport location, btw.
Also, T&Cs state this:
Hertz currently has weekend offer with Rate code (RQ): FRDM. Anybody know whether such rate codes would interfere with email promos like the one I got?
Sorry, don't rent with Hertz that often. Any help/insight is much appreciated!
Give us a chance to treat you like gold. On your next rental, experience our exceptional service as a Hertz Gold Plus Rewards® member and receive 500 Gold Plus Rewards points* – enough for a Free Weekend Rental Day! This exclusive offer is good for any car class and is available for rentals made by July 31, 2012. Don’t let this chance to drive away with a Free Rental Day pass you by!
Also, T&Cs state this:
Offer has no cash value and cannot be used with Pre-Pay Rates, Tour Rates, Insurance Replacement Rates or Hourly Rates or any other promotion other than your CDP#.
Sorry, don't rent with Hertz that often. Any help/insight is much appreciated!

I believe you are going to have to go back to close out one reservation and have them issue the new contract, etc. If they were in the same name they may be able to combine them, but for two different people that's two totally different contracts.
They will probably also view the FRDM as a promotion in addition to your CDP code which means you will not be able to use them both.

If FRDM won't work, I assume using Airline CDP + PCs won't work either since PC stands for "Promotional Coupon"?

What if it's the same renter (...and maybe a different (but authorized) driver)?
I have a similar question... I was just pricing out a 3-day rental for this coming August out in SLC, and it's looking like it's around $10 cheaper (on a FCAR) to do a 2-day (Saturday-Monday) rental and then a separate 1-day (Monday-Tuesday) rental than it is to do a single reservation (2 days + 1 day). My dad will be an authorized driver (woohoo USAA) and will pretty much be the sole operator of the car after Monday afternoon, but I don't want him to have to bother with going to return it and do paperwork for a new one (nor would I be able to accompany him, even though the reservation would be in my name...).
Is there any way they would allow us to just keep same the car out and start the second reservation when the first one ends? FWIW I've had some great experiences with the SLC location but I don't know how well this would go over.
Note: the Saturday-Monday reservation is RQ MCLE with CDP# 77694 (USAA) and PC# 107203; the Monday-Tuesday reservation is RQ USGD with CDP#77694 only (since the PC can't apply). (The straight up 3-day reservation I tried was MCLE with USAA and PC# 107203.)
Thanks
-J.

I think if it's same renter and two consecutive contracts, they should be able to do it. You should call the location and ask.
