When is a week less than a week?
I'm not sure if this is a bug with the online booking engine or what, but here goes....
I made a reservation to pick up at DEN on Sat at 2:30PM, with a return at the following Fri at 2:30PM. Got a quote for a weekly rate and booked it (with coupon, so post-pay).
Today, I decided to extend our trip by a day, and figured it'd be no problem to extend the car by a day as well and keep that rate (as I've done before). However, when I try to change it to be picked up on Sat at 2:30PM, it gives me a weekly rate, plus an extra day (at much more than weekly/7)! I even tried having the return at 2:15PM, thinking perhaps at exactly 7*24hrs it adds the day, but nope - still getting quoted the extra day.
Has anyone else experienced this? Would I have better luck getting it changed correctly, with the same weekly rate, if I called up?

For some reason it's giving me a different weekly rate if I start from scratch. Maybe I'll give them a call tomorrow, unless someone can think of anything different.

Upon further investigation, it appears that hertz.com wants to charge me extra if I return the car at 8:00 AM or later on that Sat morning, when 'one week' should allow me to rent the car until 2:30PM (exactly one week after I started the rental).

Just got off the phone with CS, who thought it was really strange as well. She played around with it for a bit, and couldn't change it without an increase. She then tried making a new reservation, and the increase was even higher. Eventually she gave up and transferred me to web support, who after telling my situation knew exactly what the problem was - apparently, some rate codes are only good for a 'six day week'. How that makes any semblance of sense, I'm not exactly sure, but that's apparently standard practice for them, as she's had several calls asking about the same problem. She told me my options were to either change the rate to a '7 day week' rate code, or just keep the car for an extra day and be charged the extra day's fee (which comes out less expensive).
Has anyone else heard of this 'six day week'? Is there any way for someone to override this, since it's almost false advertising - I don't think they're actually advertising for this rate, but it has the same feel.
